Podcast stars and new voices alike have been recognised in the shortlist which was collated from a huge pool of entries.

Winners of 11 awards will be revealed on 29th January 2025 at a ceremony hosted by broadcaster and former MP Gyles Brandreth in Westminster.

Judging the awards is an independent panel chaired by Good Morning Britain’s Head of Politics Anne Alexander. She is joined by Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons Caroline Nokes MP, Leader of Scottish Labour Anas Sarwar Msp, Deputy Mayor of London Mete Coban, former Minister Lord Ed Vaizey, Downing Street Political Director Claire Reynolds, Women2Win founder Baroness Anne Jenkin, and Cps Director and Sunday Times columnist, Robert Colvile.

Leading broadcasters Jane Garvey and Fi Glover are joining Times Radio in an exclusive deal.

The award-winning journalists will present a new live daily afternoon show together on Times Radio, joining a schedule which includes Aasmah Mir, Stig Abell, Matt Chorley, Mariella Frostrup, John Pienaar, Ruth Davidson and Cathy Newman.

Jane and Fi will also be launching a new regular podcast together.

The pair are two of Britain’s most admired broadcasters, having spent their careers at the BBC, and together have hosted the hit BBC podcast Fortunately since 2017 - but this is the first time they will broadcast a live news programme together.

Jane Garvey co-presented first Breakfast and then Drive on BBC Radio 5 Live, and was the first voice when the station launched in 1994, before moving to BBC Radio 4's Woman's Hour, which she presented from 2007 to 2020.

A number of senior Conservatives have come out against the government’s plans to privatise UK public service broadcaster Channel 4, with Baroness Ruth Davidson calling it “the opposite of levelling up”.

High-profile politicians and media figures have slammed the UK government’s decision to press ahead with privatizing It’s A Sin broadcaster Channel 4, as a petition to stop the process nears 35,000 signatures.

Yesterday, it emerged Conservative government ministers were moving to sell the broadcaster, which is publicly-owned but funded commercially. The hope is to raise around £1Bn (1.3Bn) from a deal, with ITV, Discovery and Sky all linked.

The government’s decision comes despite overwhelming opposition from the UK’s production industry, which is significantly aided by Channel 4’s business model of not owning the content it commissions.

Several high profile creatives took to social media to demand the process ends.

The Thick of It and Veep creator Armando Iannucci criticized the government for ignoring results of a consultation into the sale, tweeting: “They asked for ‘a debate’; 90 of submissions in that debate said it was a bad idea.
