Like a good wine, Land of Women requires more time to relish it but it runs dry too soon. It seems it just started, and already we’re at the end of the season. The show follows Gala, who is in turmoil after her husband suddenly runs away. Soon, she learns that he’s in debt, and has to keep her daughter, mother, and herself safe. Adventure ensues, and despite the circumstances, the women discover something new about each other as well as themselves. In Land of Women episode 5, Gala is finally reunited with her husband Fred, but the situation has changed completely. Will Gala side with her husband Fred because he came back for her, or will she choose her new life in La Muga? Let’s find out in finale episode 6.

In Land of Women episode 6, Fred shows up at La Muga to an angry Gala.

I’d say the penultimate episode of Land of Women has got to be one of my favorites. It’s equal parts funny and emotional, and then adds in just a pinch of cringe to help all the sweetness go down smooth. The big question still remains: who is Gala’s father? But before that, the ladies must first figure out how to get out of Tony’s clutches. At the end of episode 4, the three ladies were held at gunpoint because they tried to mess with the wrong set of guys. Episode 5 begins with a flashback to Julia’s youth. This scene helps us understand something that happens a little later in the episode. So, without further ado, let’s quickly jump into everything that happens in Land of Women episode 5.

What Deal Does Gala Make With Tony?

AppleTV+’s Spanglish show Land of Women has the premise of your run-of-the-mill fish-out-of-water story, but I suppose it’s still quite fun and stars a delightful cast of TV actresses who can certainly hold their own. The show follows Gala, a woman who lives a lavish, dream life in New York City, but her life’s about to get in deep soup because of a mistake made by her dear husband, Fred. Gala has a daughter named Kate, who goes to boarding school, and a mother who lives at an old age home. The first two episodes set up the basis of the show: why Gala has to move to Spain with her daughter and why it wasn’t the best decision she could’ve made. It’s humorous, sweet, and, I suppose, will get wholesome at some point in time. Expect every trope in trope-land to hit you in this one.

The characters on Land of Women are, generally speaking, not having a great time. Gala (Eva Longoria) is a posh New Yorker who’s just discovered that her feckless husband (James Purefoy’s Fred) is $15 million in the hole to loan sharks. Fearing for her life, she flees to rural Spain with her teenage daughter, Kate (Victoria Bazúa), and mother, Julia (Carmen Maura). Neither of them are thrilled to have their lives upended at a moment’s notice, and once there, they’re only temporarily out of danger anyway.

But if the events of the Apple TV+ series are stressful for its characters, they’re downright relaxing for us as viewers. Once the family has arrived in La Muga, the crime-thriller plot machinations take a back seat to a sun-dappled fantasy of small-town life, cut with tart humor and some minor soap operatics. Carla Simón’s wonderful Alcarràs is set in Alcarràs, Catalonia, among a three-generation family of peach farmers whose future is uncertain. The movie is about this uncertainty. Years ago, the patriarch of the family, Rogelio (Josep Abad), made a deal with the owners of the land, the Pinyols, that it now belonged to his family. There was no written contract, only an agreement — a promise that Pinyol’s son, who now runs things, has no legal obligation to honor. Rogelio had no reason to doubt that the Pinyol family would keep its word.
