After the release of Ajay Devgn-led Raid 2, the film was expected to drop considerably, but thanks to the powerful content, it continues attracting moviegoers’ attention. Directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, the Bollywood historical courtroom drama was theatrically released on April 18. It opened to mostly favorable reviews from critics and the ticket-buying audience. This resulted in 46.54 crores coming in during the opening week. During the second week, it made 28.81 crores, followed by 9.05 crores.

In the absence of any new Bollywood releases, Kesari Chapter 2 managed to secure a decent show count for itself during the fourth week.

The film was released in theatres on 18th April 2025 and received rave reviews from many critics and viewers. The courtroom drama has a user rating of 8.3/10 on IMDb.

There is nothing fake about Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story Of Jallianwala Bagh, although there are lots of white people in the cast and yes, plenty of beards too, none false. You could tug Madhavan’s facial hair to verify.

Madhavan plays Neville McKinley, a wily, compromised, boozy lawyer who defends the indefensible General Dyer, who massacred hundreds if not thousands in Jallianwala Bagh on 13 April 1919.

Now, 106 years later, debutant director Karan Singh Tyagi revisits the carnage with so much compassion that it feels like yesterday once more. In the way he handles the characters, even the smaller ones, and in the way he fictionalizes the original tragedy without tampering with its essential gravity, Tyagi proves himself a master storyteller.

Michael Winterbottom has temporarily stepped back from his directing duties on Sky’s Boris Johnson series This Sceptred Isle for health reasons.

Winterbottom is working remotely and is said to be recovering well. The Crown and Brideshead Revisited helmer Julian Jarrold will take over in the interim, overseeing the current block of episodes, before Winterbottom returns to direct the next block. Production on the buzzy five-part series continues.

Co-written by The Trip helmer Winterbottom, This Sceptred Isle is based on first-hand testimony from those close to British prime minister Johnson. It will chart the events surrounding the Pm, the government, and the country in the face of the first wave of the global coronavirus pandemic.

Kenneth Branagh leads a cast that includes Ophelia Lovibond as Johnson’s fiancee, Carrie Symonds, and Simon Paisley Day as Dominic Cummings, the prime minister’s most senior adviser at the height of the coronavirus crisis.
