The Brady Bunch Had A Lot Of Spin-Offs You Didn't Realize Existed
Image
Sherwood Schwartz's 1969 sitcom "The Brady Bunch" was progressive and retrogressive at the same time. On the one hand, it vaunted the virtues of remarrying and finding new families, showing that step-siblings and second spouses could produce as harmonious a domestic unit as more traditional nuclear families. On the other hand, the characters were clean-cut and virtuous to a cartoonish degree, only expressing the blandest sorts of domestic turmoil. It's easy to be harmonious when every member of the family is scrupulous and clean. The show was more about mild, silly pet peeves than about legitimately hard-hitting clashes of character.

Of course, "hard-hitting" was not Schwartz's métier. He was a writer of high-concept, light-hearted comedies. This was, after all, the "Gilligan's Island" guy. He wasn't about to skew into Neil Labute family dramas with "The Brady Bunch."

And "The Brady Bunch" was huge. It lasted a gangbusters 117 episodes over its five seasons,...

Lisa Wilcox interview: A Nightmare on Elm Street 4 and 5 heroine looks back on her battles with Freddy Krueger
Heather Langenkamp in Les griffes de la nuit (1984)
The A Nightmare on Elm Street franchise has some of the best heroines of the horror genre – and my personal favorite of the Elm Street heroines is Alice Johnson, played by Lisa Wilcox in A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master and A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child. JoBlo’s own Ryan Cultrera was able to catch up with Wilcox at the Ve Neill’s Vampire Weekend convention in California last month and talked with her about her encounters with Freddy Krueger and the experience of working on those classic ’80s horror films. You can hear what Wilcox had to say by checking out the video embedded above.

Directed by Renny Harlin from a screenplay by Brian Helgeland, Ken Wheat, and Jim Wheat (with Helgeland also sharing story credit with William Kotzwinkle), A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master has the following synopsis: Your fave psycho-sandman is back!

Doug Sheehan General Hospital Vet, Dead At 75
Image
General Hospital spoilers and updates report Gh vet Doug Sheehan has passed away at the age of 75 in Big Horn, Wyoming with wife Cate Albert at his side.

No cause of death has been announced, but according to the obituary from Kane Funeral Home in Big Horn, he passed away peacefully at home.

General Hospital Spoilers: Sheehan Played Joe Kelly

Sheehan’s career took off after making appearances in Charlie’s Angels and Kaz, along with a role in the Blake Edwards movie 10. However, it was his role as Joe Kelly in Gh that truly catapulted him to stardom in 1979.

Portraying the detective-turned-lawyer who romanced Anne Logan (Susan Pratt) and Bobbie Spencer (Jacklyn Zeman) led to a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Supporting Actor in 1982.

Geordi Replaced 4 Chief Engineers On Star Trek: Tng's Enterprise
Image
The first season of Star Trek: The Next Generation struggled to define Geordi La Forge's role as Chief Engineer, cycling through multiple characters before promoting Geordi in season 2. The creators of Tng originally envisioned a smaller role for the Chief Engineer, but the larger Galaxy-class USS Enterprise required multiple engineers. They also had difficulty finding a consistent actor for the role. Geordi La Forge evolved as a character in season 2, becoming a full Lieutenant and Chief Engineer. His abilities, such as his Visor, proved useful, and he became an invaluable member of the Enterprise crew.

Geordi La Forge (LeVar Burton) is remembered as the Chief Engineer of the USS Enterprise-d, but he did not begin Star Trek: The Next Generation in that position. Following the voyages of the Enterprise-d under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart), Star Trek: The Next Generation took a while to find its stride...

One of Joe Dante’s finest pictures speaks heart-to-heart to gee-whiz space fans — transporting us from our backyard to the far reaches of the galaxy. With a boost from aliens unknown, Ethan Hawke, River Phoenix and Jason Presson are the intrepid space cadets that construct a fantastic vehicle from mysterious dream-signals, no Interociter required. Their dreams hint at the secret desires in their adolescent imaginations, even without an it’s-all-a-dream sandpit. They dare fly where no man has flown before, a genuine escape from the petty pressures of Junior High. Watch: Nightmare On Elm Street Stars Create #StopTheNightmare PSA
Robert Englund
One of the most frustrating aspects of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic is the obstinate refusal of many people to follow the very simple guidelines put forward, as they whine about their civil liberties being curtailed by a few minor inconveniences put in place in the interest of preventing countless unnecessary deaths.

In response, and following horror legend Robert Englund’s “Wear your glove” PSA, various actors from throughout the Nightmare On Elm Street saga have come together to create a sinister yet effective public information video to remind people of the basic information imparted that will help stop the spread of infection.

It features an eerie chant by the series’ two most prominent stars, Heather Langenkamp and Lisa Wilcox (Alice from The Dream Master and The Dream Child), riffing on the infamous “One, two, Freddy’s coming for you…” skipping rhyme that’s repeated throughout the films and has wormed...

Two Actresses Cast As Octavia And Portia In The Hunger Games
The longer that Lionsgate holds off on announcing who's been cast in The Hunger Games as Cinna, Katniss's stylist and friend, the more convinced I become that they're casting someone really huge in the role. Meanwhile, they're brought on two more little-known actors to play two of the other stylists; the studio has announced via their Twitter feed that Latarsha Rose will play Peeta's stylist Portia, and Brooke Bundy will play Octavia, a member of the team along with Cinna that helps Katniss prepare for the public stage. They also helpfully provided each actress's headshot, to save me the frantic google time; those photos are what you see above, with Rose on the left. Bundy's acting credits are very limited, with just three titles listed on IMDb, but Rose has a fair amount of experience, including TV appearances on Law & Order and Bones and a handful of small movie roles...

Hunger Games News: Octavia and Portia Cast
Lionsgate has officially announced two of the glam squad roles in The Hunger Games.  Latarsha Rose and Brooke Bundy will play Portia and Octavia.

Portia is Peeta's stylist in the book, while Octavia is a member of Katniss' prep team.  They play a huge role in making Peeta and Katniss favorites in the first 'Hunger Games.'

Again, director Gary Ross has cast relative newcomers to the roles.  Rose has appeared in a small television roles and Bundy has had small parts in short films.

It will be interesting to see how this cast of newcomers work together and bring the beloved Suzanne Collins' novel to the big screen.

But who will play Katniss' main stylist Cinna?  We are so excited to see who they will cast in that role.

Who do you want to see as Cinna?...

Portia and Octavia Cast in ‘The Hunger Games’
Portia
No, there aren't any strippers in The Hunger Games, they're just named that way. The roles of Portia and Octavia have been filled in Gary Ross' adaptation of the popular Suzanne Collins young adult novel and the lucky actresses are Latarsha Rose and Brooke Bundy who'll play Portia and Octavia respectively (Above Rose is on the left, Bundy is on the right). Portia is Peeta's (Josh Hutcherson) stylist and Octavia is a member of Katniss's (Jennifer Lawrence) prep team. We know, it sounds weird. Basically, when a Tribute get picked to be in The Hunger Games, they become celebrities and are each assigned a team of people to design their clothes, do their makeup, etc. You know, so they look good before they're brutally murdered for entertainment. In the novels these teams - especially for the two leads - have significance both in the plot and as a commentary on economic disparity.

Portia and Octavia cast in The Hunger Games
Some smaller roles in The Hunger Games have been cast, specifically a couple of glamazons from The Capitol. The roles of Peeta’s stylist Portia and glam squad member Octavia, who wax, buff, pluck and beautify the competitors from District Twelve. Latarsha Rose will play Portia and Brooke Bundy will take on the role of Octavia. Octavia’s skin is supposed to be dyed pale green, so it will interesting to see if they pull that off for the film adaptation.

Rose has appeared in bit roles on All My Children, CSI, Bones, Law & Order and reality show The It Factor. Bundy is a newcomer with only a few short films under her belt. Flavius and Venia, Octavia’s fellow prep team members, have yet to be cast but they are really holding out on revealing who will fill the shoes of Katniss’ stylist Cinna.

The Evil (1978) / Twice Dead (1988) Double Feature
The Evil (1978)

Directed by: Gus Triskonis

Starring: Richard Crenna, Joanna Pettet, Victor Buono, Andrew Prine and Cassie Yates.

In Gus Trikonis' The Evil, psychologist C.J. Arnold (Richard Crenna) and his wife Caroline (Joanna Pettet) buy a dilapidated mansion with a dark past in the hopes of restoring the estate and turning it into a drug rehabilitation clinic. With the help of some of his students and current patients, the doctor begins work on the mansion - but things take a nasty turn when an ancient spirit starts attacking people. When he opens a secret door in the basement of the house, the psychologist inadvertently releases the malevolent presence...and all hell breaks loose.

In terms of B-Movie ranking, The Evil isn't all that bad. The film takes an admittedly strong stance on the importance of sticking to a more classic ghost story rather than a sleazy, gory filled B-movie romp.
