And the trailer of Aadu 2, starring Jayasurya, was released on December 12th and it crossed the one million views mark in just 20 hours, making it the fastest ever Malayalam film to garner that many views. Interestingly, the trailer of Masterpiece has crossed 1.8 million views so far with Aadu 2 following it closely with 1.6 million views. The race between Aadu 2 and Masterpiece is still on and the results should be out quite soon with the films’ releases scheduled just a few days away. Both these films will hit the silver screens a day apart. While Mammootty’s Masterpiece is slated for release on December 21st, Jayasurya’s Aadu 2 will be out on December 22nd. The Ajai Vasudev directorial, Masterpiece, has Mammootty playing a strict professor with Unni Mukundan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Poonam Bajwa, Mukesh, Gokul Suresh, Maqbool Salmaan, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Mahima Nambiar and Divya Pillai in the star cast. The film is produced by Ch Muhammed under his banner Royal Cinemas. Mammootty has had three film releases this year so far and Masterpiece would be his fourth and last release in 2017. His next film release will be Streetlights, which is scheduled for release on January 26th next year. Aadu 2, on the other hand, is the sequel to the 2015 hit movie Aadu. Jayasurya plays the lead role in it with Sunny Wayne, Vijay Babu, Saiju Kurup, Vineeth Mohan, Dharmajan Bolgatty, Harikrishnan, Bhagath Manuel, Renji Panicker, Indrans, Vinayakan and Anson Paul playing important roles.
