WWE Raw Debut Wrestlers: Where Are They Now?
WWE/Twitter

Today, Monday Night Raw is WWE’s flagship program and a constant showcase for the promotion’s biggest rivalries and non-ppv matches. The show runs for 3 hours each week, but that wasn’t always the way things were for Vince McMahon’s brightest idea of 1993.

Upon its debut on January 11 ’93, Monday Night Raw was a one hour programme, no different in time scale to much of the federation’s other TV output. There was just one difference – Raw seemed a little more lively compared to Wrestling Challenge or WWF Superstars.

Those long-running syndicated shows had become terribly stale, featuring endless runs of squash matches. Monday Night Raw was supposed to represent something different. Whilst the show did feature enhancement talent to begin with, it quickly evolved into showcasing competitive matches between top stars, such as Ric Flair facing Mr. Perfect on the January 25 episode.

In total – including pre-taped...

22 Mind-Blowing WCW Wrestler Salaries You Won’t Believe
wwe.com / wikipedia

World Championship Wrestling was never afraid to spend money. Backed by billionaire Ted Turner, WCW President Eric Bischoff spent lavishly on what he believed was the most valuable talent in the industry.

In some cases, he genuinely did secure big names. In other cases, he blew hundreds of thousands on forgettable and distinctly mediocre wrestlers. Some of WCW’s top earners, they couldn’t believe what they were making.

The following is a ranking of the most mind blowing salaries. The total sums include a wrestler’s downside, merchandise, and licensing for their top earning year. The source is from filings in the WCW racial discrimination lawsuit, which listed the range of wrestler earnings in the nineties and early 2000’s.

10 WWE Superstar Gimmicks That Nearly Turned Out So Differently
WWE.com

Have you ever taken a look at some of the great Superstars to come out of the 1990s and wondered where the ideas for their appearance came from? As it turns out, Vince McMahon utilized detailed conceptual drawings to iron out all of the details of each character before bringing them to life in the circus-like atmosphere that he created for his company during that decade. While the 1980s were still largely based in reality, with characters that fans invested themselves in, McMahon took it one step further in the ’90s, delivering characters that were over-the-top and cartoonish in nature. Everything from their names to their appearance was straight out of a D-level comic book, and even that may be generous.

In 2013, World Wrestling Entertainment’s official website released some of the early conceptual drawings of some of the most recognizable stars in the history of the business.

WWE: War Games – WCW’s Most Notorious Matches DVD Review
As fans we’ve seen wrestling go to some extreme measures that led to some epic encounters over the years. From Hell in a Cell to Last Man Standing, there have been many stipulations over the years that push the boundaries of brutality and the human anatomy. But there was only one match that went beyond… The War Games.

No matter where it was placed in schedule, the signature two cage spectacular was always the big draw for WCW. Strange alliances would be made and WrestleWars along with fall brawls would be forged in a team battleground of steel and blood . No Pinfalls. No Disqualifications. It’s just Submission or Surrender.

In the latest WWE DVD release: “War Games: WCW’s Most Notorious Matches” they look back at what happens when there are no other options and wrestling has go to war. I have to admit I was very...

In honor of the 1,000th episode of 'WWE Raw' tonight, a look back at the first
Tonight is something of a television milestone, as WWE Raw will celebrate episode number 1,000. How do you celebrate such an incredible feat? By inviting basically everybody who has ever been on the program and cram in nearly 20 years of wrestling history, of course.

The guest list this evening includes former champions and crossover stars like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Mick Foley, and Brock Lesnar, as well as pro wresting legends from previous generations (Roddy Piper, Bret Hart, Mae Young, Sgt. Slaughter, Vader, Bob Backlund, and Road Warrior Animal among them). There’s also a ton of other stuff planned, like...
