[on the cancellation of Baywatch (1989)] The reaction was, "Been there done that. Eleven years is enough. It's not the same show." I wasn't really happy with the direction the show was going.

Beyond its entertainment value, Baywatch (1989) has enriched and, in many ways, helped save lives. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to continue with a project which has had such significance for so many.

[on dismissing Brandon Call, the original Hobie Buchannon, from the cast of "Baywatch" after its maiden season] When Brandon showed up for work on the first day of the second season, I barely recognized him. He had become tall and imposing enough to pass for my brother! I was like, "Brandon, have you been taking steroids or something?" Don't get me wrong; he was a wonderful kid who never gave us any trouble, and everybody on the set just loved him. But puberty had made him too big to play my son anymore. So of course they brought in a dark-haired youngster (Jeremy Jackson) to replace the blond one.

[on Alerte à Malibu (2017)] 'Baywatch', they used the title, they used the beach, but the rest of it was more like 'Dirty Grandpa'. It was kind of an R-rated fun r**p at the beach. And you know what? There's a giant audience for that. The Rock is probably the nicest guy I've ever met, next to me, and Zac Efron and the cast were so great and they embraced me so much so I have nothing but positive things to say about it.
