Rilo Kiley appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to perform their song 2007 song “Silver Lining.” The indie band, led by Jenny Lewis, took the late-night show stage for an intimate performance that focused on the music rather than dramatic production, offering a tease of their current tour.
The group, who reunited earlier this year after breaking up in 2011, are releasing their greatest hits album, That’s How We Choose to Remember It, today. “Silver Lining” originally appeared on 2007’s Under the Blacklight, the band’s final studio LP, and is the...

Midway through Rilo Kiley’s reunion tour kickoff at the Fremont Theater in San Luis Obispo on Monday, Blake Sennett carefully scanned the Ga pit. “I was wondering what our fans would look like in 2025,” the singer-guitarist said. He motioned over to his bandmate, Jenny Lewis. “She’s right. You really look the fucking same.”
When Rilo Kiley last performed, George W. Bush was president, Michael Jackson was still alive, and a brand-new AMC show about a high school chemistry teacher turned crystal meth cook had premiered a few months earlier.

Rilo Kiley are reuniting for Just Like Heaven 2025, as leaked by a billboard on Sunset Boulevard in Echo Park, Los Angeles.
Like many other announcements, the lineup reveal for the nostalgia festival was put on hold due to the LA wildfires, but it appears there was some miscommunication and the billboard still went up. Besides Rilo Kiley, Vampire Weekend, Empire of the Sun, Bloc Party, and the recently reunited TV on the Radio are also set to top the bill.
Back in 2021, singer Jenny Lewis and lead guitarist Blake Sennett reunited for Linda Perry’s Rock-n-Relief livestream benefit. At the time, they hadn’t played together since Sennett joined Lewis onstage at Coachella 2015.
Rilo Kiley’s most recent project, their compilation LP RKives, was released in 2013. One year later, Lewis confirmed their breakup in an interview with the National Post.

Will Friedle isn’t the type of person to answer his phone while at a lunch — especially at a work lunch. In fact, he may have better manners than anyone I’ve ever met. But this was an exception.
We’d been sitting for about 10 minutes — Friedle, Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and me — gathered around a corner booth in a Studio City restaurant.
“Oh, my gosh, I’m sorry, I have to take this,” he says after pulling his iPhone out of his pocket. He quickly turns it around, showing the group the names that are scrolling across the screen: “Bill & Bonnie Daniels.”
It was just a check in from Mr. (and Mrs.) Feeny and no, it wasn’t a planned call. It was simply an example of how most (more on that later) of this cast is actually still close.

The ensemble cast of Nickelodeon's Salute Your Shorts has taken a variety of different career paths since the show ended. Debuting in 1991, the teen sitcom followed a group of campers at Camp Anawanna and the different adventures they get up to and the relationships they have over the course of a summer. The main star of the series changed over the course of its two seasons, but for the most part, the characters stayed the same. Bullies, preppies, and every other '90s stereotype came together to prank, fight, make friends, and be kids in a way that wasn't always depicted on television.
While the show only ran for two seasons, it gained a cult following and has a 75% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes. Salute Your Shorts was part of a gambit by Nickelodeon to inch into the original programming space that The Disney Afternoon had taken when it...

Boy Meets World actor Blake Sennett has revealed why he quit acting and how a near-death experience factored into his decision. The comedy series aired on ABC for seven seasons up until 2000 and followed Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) and his friends and family as he progresses from childhood to adulthood. The series starred Savage, Rider Strong, William Daniels, Will Friedle, Betsey Randle, and Danielle Fishel, among many others in its ensemble cast. Blake Sennett, who played Joey in the series, originally went by the names Blake Soper and Blake Swendson as an actor, but is credited in his recent musical works as Blake Sennett.
In a discussion on Pod Meets World, which is hosted by Boy Meet World actors Friedle, Fishel, and Strong, Sennett revealed that he quit acting after nearly dying from a substance overdose. The actor-turned-musician said that substance issues were present for him during his time as an actor,...

Adam Scott recalls an inexplicable snub during his time as a new and young actor filming Boy Meets World. A coming-of-age sitcom that helped define its era and teen culture overall, Boy Meets World ran for seven seasons from 1993 to 2000. Kirk Baily, the actor best known for his role as dim-witted camp counselor Kevin “Ug” Lee on the early Nickelodeon sitcom “Salute Your Shorts,” died Feb. 27 in Los Angeles. His domestic partner, Ranjani Brow, confirmed that he died after battling lung cancer. He was 59.
Baily got his start as a sound coordinator for the 1988 cult classic “Killer Klowns From Outer Space,” before he was cast in “Salute Your Shorts,” which premiered in 1991. Created by Steve Slavkin and based on a book of the same name he wrote with Thomas Hill, “Salute Your Shorts” premiered July 1991 and ran for two seasons. The series starred Danny Cooksey, Erik MacArthur, Blake Soper, Michael Bower, Trevor Eyster, Venus DeMilo Thomas, Heidi Lucas and Megan Berwick as various campers at the fictional Camp Anawanna. Baily’s character, Ug, acted as an antagonist toward the kids, as well as the most frequent victim of their pranks.

His death was announced by friends on social media. TMZ reports the cause of death as lung cancer based on confirmation from family.

25 years ago today, one of the best films about video games hit theaters -- and made Everyone want a Power Glove.Yep, we're talking about "The Wizard."The film is about a mute kid (Luke Edwards) who travels with his brother (Fred Savage) and a runaway (Jenny Lewis) across the country to compete in a video game competition. While the 1989 movie wasn't exactly a smash hit, it became a cult classic -- and popularized both "Super Mario Bros. 3" and the aforementioned glove. In the flick, video game pro Lucas Barton (Jackey Vinson) wields the special controller while saying the movie's most infamous line: "I love the Power Glove, it's so bad."You really just have to watch him do it:But what happened to the film's stars in the last 25 years?Savage would continue starring on "The Wonder Years" until it went off the air in 1993. Jenny Lewis and the rest of Rilo Kiley called it semi-quits in 2010, but a new post on the band's Facebook page suggests they're just about ready to strike it up again.
"Record is almost finished, and artwork is nearly done," the brief post reads. "Going to need your help! More to come."
The soulful indie outfit best known for sleeper hits like "Portions for Foxes," "Silver Lining" and "Breaking Up" is comprised of Lewis, Blake Sennett, Pierre de Reeder, and Jason Boesel. Their last effort was 2007's "Under the Blacklight."
Bandmembers announced a hiatus in 2010, and Sennett eventually went so far as to compare the band to a corpse. "I would say that if Rilo Kiley were ... a human being ... he’s probably laying on his back in a morgue with a tag on his toe," he said. "Now, I see movies where the dead get up and walk. We've come to the point in my Voice recaps where I admit that I'm tone-deaf. So tone-deaf. Almost aggressively tone-deaf. When Christina Aguilera gargles up a compliment like, "It was really the tone in your voice I was attracted to," I literally believe she's talking about nothing. (She's usually talking about nothing, which makes it confusing.) She's actually talking about something I can't hear, but I believe that gives me an advantage over her: I can tell you what the average, below-average American hears in these contenders. We'll call that a gift.
Anyway, The Voice breezed through more than a dozen auditioners last night. It was so hard to like many of them. Let's give 'em all letter grades and shoot this two-hour fiasco off a cliff.

Indie pop band Rilo Kiley have announced that they have broken up, following a hiatus. Guitarist Blake Sennett confirmed that the group will not be returning after he and lead singer Jenny Lewis have completed other projects. Lewis has been recently been working with boyfriend Johnathan Rice under the name of Jenny and Johnny. Sennett has been recording material as part of The Elected. "I just felt like there was a lot of deception, disloyalty, greed and things I don't really want to submit myself to," Sennett told Spinner. "I had related that frustration to music but I just thought, 'I'm not going to put myself in that position again', so I said, 'F**k that, I can't do this anymore'." What sucks about having a bandmate as genuinely talented, charismatic (and, yes, physically attractive) as Jenny Lewis, lead singer and co-songwriter of Rilo Kiley, is that when you step out for a side-project, it’s tough for listeners to not automatically be a little disappointed by the lack of star power. But that’s no slight to Blake Sennett, the former child star of shows like Boy Meets World and Nickelodeon classic Salute Your Shorts (Where you at, Nickheads?) who has been the co-brains behind Rilo Kiley, one of indie-rock’s finest and most reliable bands, since day one....
