We all know what political moment we're living in. Every day, there are new Berlin Walls shooting up all around us and pitting us against each other into very cruel binaries. And if our film [Universal Language] stands for anything, it stands for the fact that kindness can in fact be a radical gesture.

I really do believe that art can do something that politics can't do, that art can do something that the cruel logic of markets can never achieve. And so, I just want to take the opportunity to salute everyone in this room for the work that you do. We are, you know, to work in culture is to choose community over solitude. And that is very precious.
