His dancing ability led to him being chosen for roles in such great musical films as Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) and Oklahoma! (1955).

A gifted dancer, he was a member of the Ballet Russe in the US.

Danced the role of Dream Curly in the Dream Ballet number in the original Broadway production of "Oklahoma!" in 1943. In the 1955 film version, he played a smaller role.

"See, that's what happens to dancers," he said in the documentary while putting on makeup at age 89 for his non-dancing part in a performance of "Sophie and the Enchanted Toyshop." "Then they get older and they really don't want to leave it," he said.

He was best known for his portrayal of Daniel Pontipee, one of the seven brothers in the film Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

After he stopped dancing, Platt served as the director of the Radio City Music Hall Ballet for several years, then transitioned to full-time teaching.

Another notable role for Platt was as Bill Calhoun / Lucent (replacement) in the Cole Porter musical, Kiss me, Kate, which opened on Broadway on December 30, 1948, though Platt did not join the cast until 1949.

He appeared in the 2005 documentary Ballets Russes.

He was born Marcel Emile Gaston LePlat in Pasadena on Dec. 2, 1913, the only child of a concert violinist and soprano singer.
