BBC Studios and Audacia have signed a new deal, beginning this month and including hundreds of hours of premium BBC podcasts in Asia.

Audacia, the global audio advertising marketplace, will now serve advertisers across Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, South Korea and Vietnam.

The BBC’s place in audio provision is unmatched across the world as one of the largest producers of audio and with over 100 years of experience producing highly-valued audio content. Last year a dedicated BBC Audio division was created in BBC Studios, paving the way for the company to fully realise the commercial opportunities in the global audio market. Why BBC Podcasts Are Moving to Its Website and App Outside the U.K.

Listeners and fans of BBC podcasts outside of Britain will soon get to discover and access them via BBC.com and its app, while the BBC Sounds audio service will become exclusive to U.K. audiences. The change is set to take effect in the spring.

“The newly launched audio section of BBC.com and app is curated with international audiences in mind, making the BBC’s vast portfolio of current and archived podcasts, including hits like Global News Podcast, World of Secrets and Infinite Monkey Cage, plus BBC Radio 4 and World Service radio stations, easier to find,” the British broadcaster said in a post Monday.

Amazon has struck first-of-its-kind deals with Japan’s Nippon TV and BBC for podcasts.

The former tie-up will see Nippon’s Acma: Game drama series stream on Prime Video Japan starting April 7, immediately after Nippon TV’s Sunday primetime air slot, with global streaming of the series to follow on Prime Video two weeks later. Hulu Japan will also stream the series immediately after Nippon TV’s broadcast as part of the unusual deal.

Based on the popular manga of the same name written by Meeb (Brave Bell) and illustrated by Koji Megumi (Bloody Monday), Acma: Game takes place in a devil’s world where the challenge is to conquer the world by collecting 99 devil’s keys. BBC Studios Names Richard Knight, Amazon’s Wondery Content Team Head in U.K., Director of Audio

BBC Studios, the commercial arm of the U.K. public broadcaster BBC, said on Tuesday that it has named Richard Knight director of audio, BBC Studios Productions, starting in January. Reporting to Ralph Lee, the CEO of BBC Studios Productions, he will join the company amid continued growth in podcasting.

BBC Studios said the move comes as it looks to grow its audio unit “to take advantage of new creative opportunities in the U.K. and globally.” As part of that, it confirmed on Tuesday a previously outlined plan to move selected factual, entertainment and drama audio content from the BBC’s in-house production team to BBC Studios as of April.
