- Katarina Andjelic, nicknamed "Cakana", lives with her two children, her brother Bata, and his daughter. She is an sculpture and painting artist, but there are not many people who can see her potential. Her ex-husband, Dragoslav, is trying to get her back, because he still loves her. Cakana, who was cheated by him, still loves him, but refuses his love.
- The plot lasts from 1945 until today's day. Pavle, Stojan and Dragisa, the three war friends are taking different positions within the society immediately after the war. Pavle, a former war commissar, is now a school teacher. Thanks to him, Stojan, who was a bakery assistant before the war, does the job of a district committee's secretary, while Dragisa works in the state's secret police. The reason of conflict between Pavle and Stojan in 1947 was Stojan's fiancée Lena, who loves Pavle, marries him and gets pregnant, right when Pavle is taken to the state prison. Stojan accepts his wife and kid again, but the avalanche of political events will make all them unable to stop the inevitable catastrophe.
- A young man wants to marry the beautiful daughter of a landowner who refuses to allow the marriage. To prove his worth, the young man becomes a miller in a vampire-infested local mill.
- The story takes place during WW II in Vojvodina. Two boys, Milan and Rasa, are sent from a partisan squad to a village for the winter. Soon Rasa becomes very ill and Milan goes to a nearby village populated by Germans. Here he finds a job as servant in Jakob Jerih's house. At night, Milan secretly nurses his friend Rasa in a hut in a swamp near the village. Soon, he finds another hiding place in master Jerih's stable. Jerih likes the diligent Milan and he even considers adopting the boy, but Jerih's cousin and assistant is against this idea. Namely because he counts on inheriting master Jerih's estate.

- The plot follows the story of Zona Zamfirova (Katarina Radivojevic), a local rich man's daughter, and the vicissitudes of her affair with Mane (Vojin Cetkovic), an ordinary goldsmith. As it was undesirable for the daughter of a rich man to marry a craftsman, the two are at first divided, with the possibility of Zona marrying the son of other rich people, Manulac. Everything is, however, changed as Mane organizes a successful conspiracy to keep Zona for himself.
- Bane Bumbar is growing up in Stara Karaburma neighbourhood with his parents Sreta and Olja, his half-sister Seka Stajn (his mother's child form a previous marriage) and his maternal grandmother Elvira. His circle of friends includes characters such as Miki Rubiroza, Glupi Uke, Boca Combe, as well as his off-and-on girlfriend Goca. Occasionally narrated by Bane and other characters from a distance of 10-15 years, each one of 10 episodes depicts a different year from 1960 to 1969, inclusive, with Bane's various endeavours, concerns, education, love life, etc. taking center stage during each particular episode.

- Follows Paja and Jare, two honest and good-natured truck drivers and business partners, as they encounter various people on the road. Though their encounters often lead to trouble, it's their strong friendship.

In every episode we see main characters Jaksic family struggling to survive through sanctions, inflation, electricity cutouts and while they are in problems, their neighbors Neska and Stole Petrovic( excellent performances by Dusanka Stojanovic and Branko Vidakovic) are becoming very successful and wealthy in a society where thieves are welcomed and highly praised. We also follow whole bunch of characters that are connected to each other by very unhappy destiny in these harsh times.
