They may have been ghosts and monsters but they looked like unarmed people to me. Let me tell you a story:

This was made in 1935. Meanwhile, the Japanese military had already conquered four nations. Through brutal force. As demonstrated in this video. 'Someday those kids will be soldiers', they probably thought. 'Might as well start early', they likely said.

But today, if you ask the average kid there, they'll tell you Japan was the victim in World War II. Same country this video was made in. Have they run out of clues there? Seems like they don't have a clue. But they are swimming in ignorance.

Nanking should be a mandatory field trip for every single person in Japan.

Yes, it's true, it's a rare find. But just because something is old, that does not mean it's worthy of praise. This is dull film with over emoting from the clearly spoiled and arrogant leading character. This lady has the smooth brain- believing just reading a letter will make her possessed. She runs around her uncle's castle increasingly agitating the viewer with her superfluous-ness.

A book her highness draws from the mansion's library, entitled 'The Grotesque and Arabesque', is a collection of short stories dedicated to a hostile Colonel who wrote a book called 'Southern Gentlemen Vindicated by the Defeat of the terroristic and treasonous Northern Abolitionist', or some such nonsense. This revisionist so honored is the icon of the book's author - Edgar Allen Poe. The Edgar Allen Poe.

I'm not sure what's more offensive - that Poe thing or this movie for doing a damn good job of putting me to sleep.
