Yes, I gave it a high rating. Because at the end of the day, I enjoyed the show. A lot!
This review focuses on Season 1 only because I have grown attached to the Season 1 cast and their dynamics and thought I have tried Season 2... Just wasn't the same and I wasn't ready to do the whole build-up again. I might go back to it some time.
So, where does the conflict come from?
Mostly from the fact that for me, Kim Sabu is absolutely not the moral arbiter the show wants me to see his as.
There are layers and layers and layers of plot armour around him, very convenient outcomes.
This is not so much a story about growth as it is about obedience. And it's masked as growth because the obedience and loyalty is required from and given to the 'good' power (vs. The 'bad' power of the greedy rich hospital doctors). And the show not only doesn't ask or examine how good the 'good' power is, but makes the viewers look the other way by making the others just bad enough so no other conclusion can be made other than... it is 'good'.
Once that facade cracks, the whole story pretty much falls apart... but as stated previously, there are so many elements of the show that I have enjoyed (even the continuous annoyance), so I'm sticking with the high rating for this one.
One thing though I refuse to be okay with is the portrayal of mental health issues for one of the main characters. Very problematic definition and portrayal of healing.
The show is really trying to offer some moral lessons throughout the show, but it is probably the last reason I would ever recommend someone this show. Unless they are willing to really sit with the message after each episode and really, truly look at what was given to us and perhaps come up with a different interpretation than what the writers intended.
For everything else, it was very fun, good balance of drama and comedy. A show I will remember fondly and probably will re-watch in the future.

I am confused at the raving reviews this show got. I came to it convinced by recommendations, not knowing anything other than it's 'revenge' story. And I was expecting to like it... a lot. However...
I was already thinking on whether to continue at the end of episode 1. Sadly, it didn't improve much, although the show did had some good moments. And no matter how much I empathized with the main character on a human level, I never managed to fully root for her... Not because what she went through didn't deserve justice, but because I just couldn't engage with the character or with the plot. Everything - the story itself, the 'intrigue', the pacing, the characters... even performances kept pulling me out and near the end I honestly couldn't care less how things are gonna end.
Interestingly, this is not the first revenge K-drama I've seen that has been kind of a miss for me. I usually like how this industry goes about building the plot and characters... much more than western shows or movies. But it seems that there is something in revenge plots that just doesn't sit well with me.
Also, previously, even if something wasn't exactly my cup of tea, I was at least able to understand the appeal, regardless of the genre - from the trashiest guilty pleasures to the most acclaimed works. Here I really don't. And it's been a long time since I finished the last episode and just felt absolutely... nothing.

Definitely one of the best if not THE BEST TV show of this genre that I have ever seen - world wide. Even though I have previously had problems with Turkish television, this one managed to break through language and any cultural barriers. It is very modern, colorful and eclectic, but at the same time shines light on some of the Turkish traditions and customs through some significant events.
One of the greatest problems I've had in the past with Turkish television was that I often felt the dialog didn't match the scene. Actors would often seem either completely detached from the scene or overacting it. That was was not the issue here (I'm talking about the main story and main two characters). They had an amazing chemistry. Line delivery, gestures, mimic... it was truly an enjoyment to watch.
The only downside to the show is the fact that since the show was planned to last for about 3-4 months and have just over 20 episodes, but ended up running for year and a half with 69 episodes, changes in script were necessary. And it shows! For me, by the time that slight setback happened, I've grown so attached to the characters that it didn't really bother me, but I can definitely see why certain people found that problematic.
Like most Turkish television shows, this one relies heavily on emotions... Not just romantic feelings, but those between family members, friendships, colleagues! Characters are truly well-rounded and they have a great development throughout the entire show. Side characters are just as colorful and a bit 'too much' at times, but they all play their part in the story.
If you give this show a chance (and I strongly recommend that you do), you will be laughing and crying, get warm fuzzy feeling and get angry at times. And you will be treated to one of the most beautiful and well-played love stories ever.
