There have been few earlier versions of "The Day of the Jackal" already and dozens of other super assassin shows. This iteration offers no originality. Nonetheless, the show is intriguing and entertaining enough. For most fans of this genre, it does not disappoint in delivering what it promises. See for yourself, you will be entertained.

Now, what I don't understand is why is there so much venom for Lashana Lynch? I don't know, were some people looking for some kind of Shakespearean performance from her? If so, what would that look like? If you haven't watch the show yet and are on the fence on whether to invest your time on this show or not, I would strongly advise ignoring these head scratching reviews about "everything's great but the lead actress." Her character felt natural in the show and there was nothing in terms of any "bad acting" that ruined any scenes. Again, do not be influenced by what appears to be some kind of a collective effort to disparage one actress. Go into it with no prejudice and simply enjoy the ride.

I know that this show is based on a very popular webtoon and the show creator is the same person who wrote and produced the show "Moving." There is no need to compare the show to the webtoon or another show (Moving). So, judging the show on its own merits, I have some mixed feelings.

To be honest, I had a real difficult time finishing the first three episodes. While the basic premise was quite interesting, the show left the audience in the dark (pun intended) for much of the time, just dropping few hints here and there. It was somewhat frustrating at time, but then, I watched Ep. 4. The reveal in Ep. 4 hit me like a ton of bricks and shed a light on what was happening in Ep 1-3. The show still has much more to explain and carry the main story forward. However, Ep. 4 pretty much changed my mind from giving this show a 3-star rating to an 8-star rating. At the end of the season, perhaps my score will increase or decrease.

For anyone who is not sure about giving this show a chance, watch at least up to Ep. 4. If you decide that it's not your cup of tea at that point, then I doubt you will enjoy the rest of the show.

I had high expectations for this show, as I have truly enjoyed the previous works of both the main actor and the actress. Now, I am also openminded enough to accept the fact that some characters in some shows do really stupid things, just because...

Now, in the middle of episode 1, a kidnapper with a speech impediment (which does not sound authentic and is just annoying) gets in the car of his victim (the main actress). While she's driving, with him sitting in the back seat, he tries to strangle her... okay... then, he goes on about how he like "that look" or something. He then go on this long tirade and tell her, for no apparent reason, about how his phone has VPN installed and that no one can trace his call for 10 min... I don't know if this is some kind of misdirection or even a dream sequence that will be explained later in the show. Whatever the case maybe, if you throw away any semblance of logic in the first episode, it is highly likely that logic will be easily ignored in future episodes. Despite my best effort, I couldn't make it all the way through the first episode...

Interesting concept. Very good acting. If you value logic in storytelling, then save yourself the trouble.
