This looked good to start with. Impressive expensive sets (apparently constructed just for the show) A decent enough plot: a dystopian future world following some kind of disaster. We see straight away what's going on and wait to find out how our protagonists deal with the inevitable constraints and contradictions living in a tightly controlled doctor. Sadly the whole degenerates into a rather banal soap opera. There are so many continuity errors it's like the writers didn't even care. How can so much be spent on fantastic props and sets and so little on credible scripts is a mystery. I felt sorry for the actors who do their best.
I enjoyed season one: a gripping opener with a shocking scenario which seems so out of character for the main protagonist. . But gradually we start to see the developments which brought it about and our view is cleverly skewed around to see things in a different light. Sometimes a series is successful and it seems some producer thinks.'lets knock out another one'. So the scriptwriters churn out a pile of garbage. And so you have season two. It's horrible. New characters keep jumping out of the woodwork; all have a different relationship with Marty. Marty walks around like a bull in a china shop annoying the hell out of everyone especially the viewer. So many contuity errors try the patience. A cheap mess.
If you think this film will give you guidance on how to set up a new business forget it! The main character Santi is a charming idiot. He constantly goes with his gut instincts against the advice of wiser heads. Why anyone would invest in him is beyond me! It doesn't delve into commercial theory enough for me. One truth it does expose: in order to compete in a fiercely competitive free market you have to be ruthless. If that means exploiting your workforce so be it. What saves the film is the sheer enthusiasm and pace. It's very melodramatic but also funny and touching. I'd recommend it to anyone!
