A fresh moral story about the idea of intuition versus having the power to know the future, or in this film, know someone's intention or aura. An impressive, human interest feature about relationships and human nature, as touching as it is funny.

Off the top, I love an Indian lead. Anand Rajaram is very strong and pairs well with equally strong female lead Brittany Allen; you can definitely feel the chemistry between them, it's believable. Powerful supporting performances by Darryl Dinn, Christian Potenza, and Joel Keller give the film its life and color. The dialog, the writing is snappy, clever, and hilarious; the film moves at a good pace, keeps you interested. Very impressed by the entire package here and applaud its great execution.

Give this film a chance, amidst all the big budget blockbuster static, open your heart to this independent feature that was, no doubt, meticulously put together by passionate professionals who bleed, sweat, and go sleepless nights to pursue the dream of making a film for audiences to enjoy. Give them your time, it's worth it.

You see them all the time, young adult hipsters doing nothing productive; sitting around drinking fancy coffees, sharing big ideas but taking no actions. So what happens when these ambition-less, wandering people are forced to grow up and confront actual problems, the actual day to day existence that they have always disparaged and looked down upon. This film follows Tim Heidecker's character as he juggles with his haze-ridden, alcohol-filled youth and the oppressive responsibility that looms over him as he just tries to continue his youthful fun at the expense of others. A film about not wanting to grow up but finding out there's a time when adult-hood just takes you and as much as you wish and hope and fight to maintain your existence, you find it disappearing underneath your canvas shoes. A compulsive jokester/liar using his version of truth to have things done his way. A man unable to be serious in a world that values your mask more than yourself but when you can't turn it off, you drive away the people closest to you because even you prefer knowing the impersonal version of self. A child at heart who doesn't have the answers and may never have the answers to a problem that's so hard for many of us. Life.

The great thing about Hitch is that it is not your standard, run of the mill romantic comedy; it actually has some substance and thought. Will Smith is an extremely handsome man and Kevin James is not bad looking either, however, admittedly, he isn't the archetype of something that all women lust over, he's a regular guy, overweight, goofy, and doesn't know what to do. Romantic comedies have knack for making guys only looking to get into women's pants and women being the helpless 'victims;' Hitch turned that idea on it's ear and made the men 'helpless' and the women more of the strong, unapproachable beings which is a great switch for guys who feel like they just don't have what it takes to be the man that all the women want or even just one woman wants; they feel like losers. Hitch is a romantic comedy for nice guys who are having difficulty in romance; I'm not saying it's a 'How to Guide' but it's certainly the only film I've seen that empathizes with the man's struggle in the world of relationships and that's what makes it so wonderful and unique. I'm surprised Hitch has such little fanfare or appreciation, to me it seems completely revolutionary but perhaps that is the problem; people weren't ready to see this they still wanted to see women fawning over muscular, chiseled men and men being sexual jerks who only want sex. Hitch is the movie I look to in my own film work as I try to expose the struggle of the 'nice guy' who just doesn't know what to do.
