Bad script writing, bad acting, bad sets, over used premise. This ones got it all.
Stephen King may have written the book, but it has clearly been 'created' by a bunch of mediocre also rans who probably can't believe they landed a real Hollywood job. He has had nothing to do with it other than allowing his name to be put on it and collecting a cheque.
Your first sign that you're in trouble is the ubiquitous Josh Whedon=esque dialogue. Lots of snappy one liners and needless hostility. Next, the 'Institute' is clearly a high school, replete with dirty radiators. His bedroom doesn't have a window, but there are all sorts of them as soon as he walks out the door. Five minutes after waking up in the institute, he's apparently ready to meet its leader. It just goes on and on.
I could get past most of the problems with this show, but the bad writing is really the big deal breaker.

But it needed time to develop. Sorry though, its on Prime, so it gets cancelled before it has a chance to go anywhere.
I see no point in getting invested in any Prime shows seeing as they cancel all of the half decent ones and then keep crap like the wheel of time going on forever.
Most streamers have this problem, but especially Prime. These 'studios' if you can call them that, only care about subscriptions and have no interest in the art of any given project beyond its capability to garner more subscriptions. Its a soulless excersize that gives you a top ten of programming that makes you want to turn the tv off.

Just horrendous. Gareth Evans should not be allowed to write or direct anything anymore. He's mid at best. The story is moronic and cliche'd. The acting is over the top. The action is just silly. People opening up full tilt with machineguns to kill someone. Like ten fifteen seconds and hundreds of bullets to kill someone who's lying on the floor. People who are shot multiple times already are still walking around. But its okay, because they have a slight limp.
This "movie" finished filming in 2021. Then I guess after the studio saw the finished product, it went into multiple reshoots. The continuity is terrible in this regard because people hair is different lengths in the same scene. Blood is on someones face on second and gone the next.
One thing that was done very well was making Cardiff, Wales look like an American city. Top marks for production design and set dec. The only reason this pile of crap didn't get a one star review from me.
Tom Hardy pretty much phones in his part. Timothy Oliphant was pretty good but you don't see much of him. And I guess if you're a fan of asian sterotypes and 90lb women beating up multiple 200lb men at once, then I guess this is the movie for you.
