Dude who pushed out GOLDEN COMPASS and TWILIGHT makes a "comedy" about a thinking robot in the future. For some weird reason, every single couple on the ship is same sex was if STDs wouldn't have ended that by 2050. It is listed as a "comedy" but wife fell asleep and I yawned a bunch. Think Star Trek meets whatever space B-movie that bombed. The inner ramblings of the robot are interesting but not funny. The creepy guy is creepy in everything is creepy in this. A few alien CGI attempts are pretty good. Believable. Overall, would bet it isn't renewed for season 2. Maybe the humor was British, that would track why I was yawning. Wouldn't recommend.
Batista is done playing the big, scary tough guy. Since he went off the roids and has become a "serious actor" he has one or two of these four on IMDB movies left. Milla is always a delight and carries this as far as she can. It is lots of beautiful scenery and powerful music but no substance or depth. It is MAD MAX meets PRIEST and ELI with a little GOT. We checked Facebook and email while planning our week. A waste of $20 since it'll be on cable tomorrow. This ridiculous page requires me to keep talking when the review is done so I could mention how good Milla was in BANSHEE. Yummy. Also the many movies where she fights monsters and such.
Well here we go. Another movie turned into a series with a bunch of A-lister movie stars that is boring and way too long. You find yourself looking at the episode guide for "how many episodes?" It it like they had an outline (book by Alan Alda) and said "read this and be funny." They failed the project. The one time we laughed was in the previews, when their friends meet them in the road in the first scenes. And of course, it is Hollyweird so the one in one-hundred doesn't count and one in three in this group effort are jazzy hands. And in a desperate stretch for laughs they aren't a little bit Tony Awards but are full out RuPaul about it. We could only get through half the episodes before we gave up and went looking for FRIENDS reruns. Another miss.
