I recently had the pleasure of watching Clark, and to say it was a delightful experience would be an understatement. Not only did it showcase the beloved character in all his rambunctious charm, but it also cleverly delved into the complexities of failing to correctly assess a situation, making it an amusing film for audiences of all ages.
The cast is superb, with Aramis Gomez delivering a charming and nuanced performance as Clark. He captures the innocence, optimism, and enthusiasm of the character, while also showing his vulnerability, confusion, and growth. William McNamara is hilarious as the kidnapper who struggles to understand Clark. He also has great chemistry with Gomez, as they play off each other's comedic timing and contrasting personalities. The supporting cast is equally impressive, with Sean S. Cunningham and Michelle Bruce who each execute lively performances.
Clark is a delightful and refreshing fantasy/comedy that subverts the expectations of its iconic source material.

Awful writing, editing, and directing. Most of the film is a hodgepodge ill conceived montage. The script is pontification, pontification, pontification and then a running scene. Rinse and repeat. None of the characters have any semblance of an arc. No tension. No suspense. Just a bunch of boring, aimless exposition. A completely amateur outing. Writers have no idea how to create an interesting dramatic scene. The director has no idea how to construct a compelling visual narrative. I feel sorry for the editor who had to put this nonsense together. I hope he got paid well because this is a violation of the Audiences Bill of Right. (The right to stop being sold crap).
The first act is a boring talk-fest "Would you like some wine? No, I'd rather have some tea". This nonsense goes on for over forty minutes. Nothing really happens other than a double booked Air B&B.
Then it picks up a little, but the suspense is deflated by long introductions of new characters who don't have too much of an impact on the narrative. The script pulls in too many different directions without resolving any of them. Lot's of creepy weirdness that is truncated by a haphazard narrative.
This could have been a pretty wild ride if they had streamlined the story and focused on a strong thematic element. Once you get past the first forty minutes the rest is watchable.
