It has got to be said, Stephen Fry is awful at presenting this show. I like him in most things, his acting, comedy, chat shows and he was a good presenter on QI. But he is awful here. He witters on and on and seems patronising to the contestants.
The show itself also pales in comparison to the American original. The American show gives out huge cash prizes and the British version looks cheap alongside that. I also don't understand why they have two rounds of regular Jeopardy before they get into Double Jeopardy, it seems ponderous and slow, which is also down to Stephen Fry's presentation, whereas the American version is snappy, with one round of each.
Jeopardy has been on TV in the US for over 40 years, don't change a winning format.

It's surprising that this show only ran for two years and three series, when the UK version, called Countdown, has run for forty three years and over eight thousand episodes. It also spurned the spin off comedy version, 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, which has run for 14 yeas and 27 seasons itself.
The Australian version is currently running as repeats on SBS. The reason for it's lack of success may be because it airs on a minority channel, or because the presenters are not quite as good as those on the British version. Despite all of this, guess which one has a higher ranking on IMDB.
Maybe there's hope for a Letters and Numbers comeback yet.

This popped up on TV tonight. The IMDB ranking was pretty low, but it had some very good actors in it, so I thought I would give it a go anyway. I really wish I had not.
The storyline was the sort of thing that has been done so many times before and always better than this. Creepy, but attractive woman stalking another and apparently has the hooks into her husband . Said creepy woman is trying to convince everyone, including the wife, she is losing her mind. I kept hoping it would get better as it went on, but if anything it got worse and even more confusing at the very end.
Susan Sarandon, Sam Neil and Emily Blunt have all made so many good films, I am sure they will all want to forget this one.
