The first half is a standard funny/silly Will Ferrel movie.
But when the aliens show up, is goes completely off the rails and just becomes weird.
I've never been able to watch passed that point, so the most I can give it is a 4.
They should have went a different direction with it. It had potential, for sure.

For as long as I can remember, I would have given this a 10.
But it finally happened - I went to watch it again, and it's aged for me.
It's still peak entertainment, as to 'movies for guys who like movies'.
The constant narration now bugs me.
It never did before.
What is usually primarily the beginning and end of a film 'levels of narration' - is present throughout the entirety; to the point it feel like it never lets the story take off on its own right.
It might be more narration than a standard noir.
And the true story is much more interesting, mainly because in real life Karen Hill was actually sleeping with Paul behind Henry's back; and her moves were much more important to events that transpired than the film came close to telling. Instead choosing to portray her as an angel.
Writing her character honestly would have brought much needed depth and realism to the story.
But still, the antisocial kid in me could never let such a great gangster flick ever be given less than an 8.

I'd give the first half a 7; but being I just shut it off, I have to give the thing a 4.

I was really into it until they quarantined all of the civilians in someplace where he just came through the doors on the other side. Lol
