Everything in our lives is practically a subscription based model and it's annoying as hell. So the story, although quite silly and downright stupid at times, does provide a dark note on where we are. There is some good acting by the two leads, especially O'Dowd who really sells the story and character. Decent performance by Jones. Good cinematography and editing.

From the early scene where Chris' character agrees to the tech company's help, the rest of the plot was extremely predictable. Every twist and turn can be smelled a mile away, including the ending.

This episode just reminded me of a more ominous version of the show Upload, but less entertaining.

Well it's not just King's fault. The writing of her character is terrible. But unfortunately, King simply does not have the acting chops to pull off the role. Her over the top and ridiculous portrayal make the film grating at best. Kidman, Efron, and Bates all do a great job with this beating the dead script. The story is so overdone and cliche. Nothing new here. The reason why it's entertaining, is because it's sometimes fun with some occasional laughs.

This is Netflix's 2025 version of The Idea of You, but not as good. But the thing is, the former wasn't that great to begin with anyway.

Watch it for the star power and the occasional zinger.
