Easily one of, if not THE best music documentary I have ever seen. So often these docs go flat after the first 20 minutes, none of that here! The visuals are fantastic and carry the show (as well as establish the sense of place) when the incredible music is throttled back. Underlying all of this is an incredible story of an incredible man, Jerry Hall, a man born in numbing poverty who somehow managed to rise above poverty and numerous personal tragedies to produce some of the most incredible blues and rock and roll recordings of all time. If you have access to this show and love music all I can say is WATCH THIS TODAY and prepared to be blown away!
A series of disjointed scenes that mostly sucked, no chemistry whatsoever and a thin plot that, when it can be found, moves so slowly and is so poorly played out that you will want to slit your wrists. AWFUL! Since I have to write ten lines in order to submit what more to say? I live in Kentucky, near where this was filmed, I resented the canned depictions of Kentucky country folks and what outsiders think Kentuckians should look, act and sound like. Many of the props and much of the dialogue is thrown in because the producers seemingly felt like "that's what people in Ky do" or "how they should sound", but really didn't fit the moment or were completely out of context. There I think I've got the requisite 10 line. To recap.... a yawn-fest.
