I can get the low ratings. This is a strange movie not everyone will understand, esp since "understanding" someone's creation does not equal enjoing it. This smells of Cronenberg and feels like it. With a monumental traverse on humanity, it's pressures and expectations. For me it's astonishing, but I am old fashioned and I look for silver linings. Demi is absolutely fantastic, so is the young lady. This should be a mandatory viewing in high schools but I think some Black Mirror episodes catch the meaning faster with a much shorter script, so... maybe too old fashioned after all. Still, a great movie.

Yeah, it's winter, but it still feels like vacation's easy viewing. And I am not rating it 10 because I think it's best thing ever, I just go 10 as in recommended and 1 as in avoid.

ATJ is always a pleasure to watch, but this time she feels oddly misplaced. Like there's no guidance and no character to develop, all rather generinc and if you were to judge her by this movie alone, you wouldn't have thought much of her acting capabilities. Go watch Queen's Gambit, VVitch or pretty much any other stuff she starred in and you'll know what I mean. Her counterpart is capable, not a bright star, not annoying. Just fine for the part.

The movie is uneven. We have segments of total nonsense (in terms of a horror film) where they spend minutes upon minutes on a out of place romance, giddy moments, dance scenes, chatting, almost comedy, or maybe like in Indian film where they somehow feel compelled to dance for no reason. Character intro is also shallow and by-the-numbers. I think it would be best if they just ditched the bios and let them run like anons. The way it was made seems unbearably cliche and tired. "True evils" are also so sickly by the book it feels way too artificial.

The mid section, that covers most of the story, is the most interesting part and what keeps this movie alive. Really, really good production values here, as well as sfx. Almost makes you wish it was all spent on a way better movie.

The action is there, but again, nothing that would make your heart pump faster unless it's the first action you see on screen. Phalanx guns, minigun drones were cool, as well as shelling out high caliber rounds, that was ok. But in general, a "summer" vibe all around.

The music is nice. Some pretty cool pieces all the way through.

The ending is "meh". I really thought they would *REDACTED*.

To sum it up, I give it 10 (as in recommended) for the sole fact it feels like Doom in the mid part. Really out of this world scenery and fluid action save this movie from being a failure. I somehow imagine a marriage of The Gorge and The Annihilation could make a great film (Annihilation was way too convoluted and "mysterious" just for the sake of being such).

This the end of the world. The gravity stops, the stars collide, they die in big supernovas, then the cold steps in, every atom in the Universe ceases to move. Or something. This is the movie to collapse Hollywood in the same manner. Eternal cold encompasses the studios. They have nothing else to say. Because with Emilia Perez they have ended it all. There is nothing more to see, nothing more to hear, nothing more to experience. This is a silent and cold death of the Hollywood Universe. All stars collapsed, all creativity frozen, no more movement, no more action, this is the end of everything. Hollywood is officialy dead.
