1) This is an origin story so, of course, it starts out slow, introducing characters, backstories, current situations. In each subsequent episode, these elements are developed and build on each other.
2) The acting is fine and not at all over-the-top. It's fairly lowkey and realistic, especially for a superhero film.
3) Riri explicitly refuses to diss Tony Stark. It's almost like one reviewer was not watching and/or listening carefully.
4) The sfx are fine. The way some reviewers are acting you would think we are watching the scorpion king portion of the "The Mummy Returns" or the windsurfing sequence in "Die Another Day." 5) I have noticed that this series, like many other recent series and films, displays the trend of its user ratings being inversely proportional to how white and male the protagonist is. Some of the reviewers are rating this lower than "Manos: The Hands of Fate", " Laserblast", and "Plan 9 From Outer Space." Seriously?

My wife and I live in Florida and we laughed frequently while watching this series, not only because of the various witty lines but also because of the hilarious situations which we deemed "So Florida!" Like Carl Hiaasen novels, this series introduces many characters who are recognizable Florida types. It also boasts a lot of twists that are surprising and yet plausible. Various subplots intertwine and even collide with one another like a Dickens novel on crack. The story begins with an ex-cop with a gambling problem who is working for the mob boss he owes a lot of money to. When the boss' girlfriend disappears the ex-cop is sent to get her back. From there the series takes us on a rollercoaster ride with twists, loops and switchbacks galore, leaving you giddy with delight.
