I don't even know what to say about this series, with Seth Rogen I thought it had the potential to be funny, there are a lot of people writing reviews about how funny this thing is, but after 45 minutes I realized I hadn't chuckled once. However I had cringed quite a bit. I like satire, I like comedy, and I like Seth Rogen, so what could have possibly went wrong?
First of all Rogan plays the most obnoxious character imaginable, he plays a character that's completely unlikable on every single level, he plays a character who's not particularly smart or creative, and yet he's the head of a studio. The rest of the characters seem to be equally unlikable. And he represents a studio owner who is supposed to be an amusing character, and yet he's such a caricature. I think satire is amusing when it's smart, but when satire is dumb it fails to amuse.
Am I the outlier here, am I the only one that found this show to be a ridiculously stupid pun on Hollywood? I do feel like Hollywood has lost the plot, and they do feel like Hollywood produces very little in the way of intelligent movies these days, so there's a lot of room to work with in terms of creating a satire on Hollywood. But, really guys is this all you got?
