Yes this is about an Android that watches soap operas. Yes it is a yet another stupid dark comedy by way of Apple TV Plus. But it is a unique take on science fiction that only Apple TV could bring us.

As eclectic as the science fiction is on Apple TV, it took me all the way up to the seventh episode to appreciate what I believe is one of the subtle points of the show. Unlike other programs where scientists in the distant future are jaded and people long to return to Earth and live in a world without artificial intelligence in the nineties in this show technology shields people from the harsh environments they live in not because they are physically incapable but no longer mentally adept to survive. A world where most do not have guns and one that needs robots to protect them. One where humans are to weak to make it on their own. And one where man's relationship with technology unfolds in ways that no one anticipated.

It isn't the sci-fi that Paramount is known for. But there's far more to it than meets the eye. The question is if viewers will hang around long enough for it to develop.

This isn't Tyler Perry dragging Black women this is about a woman with a mental breakdown. Far better than I expected but I'll never watch it again. Unfortunately one has to watch to the end to truly understand where Tyler Perry is going with this one.

Now I am a hater of Tyler Perry's work and I try to watch every film and TV show he puts out. Nine times out of ten I leave justified looking for the next project to hate on. Most times the TV shows are far better than the films.

But this one was satisfying in a different way. Sherri Shepard and Taraji P. Henson were good. Glen Turman did what he was there for but it really wasn't about him. Teyana Taylor was the same as always, which was good. So watch this movie. Eight out of ten because if it's this good then he's capable of producing better work and is simply holding out on us. If it were any other director 6 out of 10. Taraji should get nominated for this one but we all know how that goes.

Hilarious dark comedy about a 39 year old introvert and her 22 year old lover that reminds her about her controlling and domineering father. Very cerebral and very Brooklyn. At first it seems like opposites attract, until we see that this younger lover, his ambitions and his perseverance is just what this thirty something woman that thinks she's content with her life and her cat actually needs. It's a rather unusual and strange film, but the kind you'll probably watch every time it presents itself.

These Black diamond in the rough independent films are hard to find. It's a nice waste of time on a Saturday afternoon and transports you to that Brooklyn brownstone and is reminiscent of Spike Lee's work in the early eighties. It feels as if the movie is an exploration of consciousness just for the point of it, and no actual story is being told. Whether viewers will be okay with this journey or if it is worth an hour and a half of their time is a personal choice. More about the odd nature of New York situationships than anything else.
