The Shawshank Redemption, based on the fantastic Stephen King novel, is a moving story about Andy Dufresne, an innocent man charged with the murder of his wife and her lover who is sentenced to 40 years in prison and fights hard to survive, but in prison he forms a rare and close friendship with fellow inmate Ellis 'Red' Redding. The film more or less focuses on the friendship between Andy and Red, played beautifully by Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman, Morgan's deep and moving voice was perfect to describe the closeness of his friendship with Andy. The film had a great happy ending where Andy escaped from the prison after serving almost 20 years, he also managed to expose the prison as there was murder and corruption going on there, Andy moves to a beautiful island abroad and when Red is paroled after serving 40 years in prison he is reunited with Andy, it was a great ending to a beautiful movie.
Valley Of The Dolls is an excellent movie and still remains one of my favourites, I am a huge Sharon Tate fan, she truly was the most beautiful and sweetest person that ever lived. The three main characters in Valley Of The Dolls, played beautifully by Sharon Tate, Patty Duke and Barbara Parkins, are struggling to deal with the pressures of Hollywood therefore they turn to pills which are called "dolls" in the movie. I absolutely loved Sharon's character, Jennifer North, she was a sweet hearted woman, just like Sharon, and it was just tragic that this beautiful young woman takes her own life because of her breast cancer, that was very sad. This movie is very moving and possibly Sharon's best performance, it will remain one of my favourite films for always. The biggest tragedy ever of course was the callous and brutal murder of Sharon in August 1969 which continues to sadden me through and through.
The Postman Always Rings Twice is an excellent movie which is very well acted, I first saw it when I was a child, it was one of my dad's favourite films and I have always loved it. Lana Turner is absolutely beautiful and wonderful as Cora, what I love the best is how back in the 1940's there was no sex involved yet through the superb acting you could see just how much Frank loves Cora and vice versa, it wasn't so good as it had a sad ending, but its the perfect example of how planning a murder can go horribly wrong. I have this movie on DVD and it certainly is one of my favourite films all time, no matter how many times I watch it I continue to enjoy every moment.
