Danny Boyle and Alex Garland came back and beautifully expanded the infected hellscape they created with 28 Days Later. The nightmarish and anxiety inducing cinematography is back on full display with this one. It was bloody, violent, weird and completely unexpected.
It's not a one off, all out horror survival like at the beginning of the outbreak with 28 Days Later. It's the start of a much longer story in a trilogy with cult like groups spread out in quarantine. These people have survived and continue to survive 28 Years Later...for better or for worse. I love how they show how much the virus has evolved again in order for the infected to survive too. It felt like a bloody fever dream and we can't wait for the next entry!
