Selvaraghavan has managed to picture a movie that careens past the usual reality check in films and perches itself atop a hill. A gargantuan talent that has been latent in Dhanush has been exposed. The veracity and his luminous capability to scintillate his dialogues with authenticity is what implodes the shell that the film initially cocoons itself in. The movie wings itself into a political drama that unflinchingly emanates a feeling of relativity. The movie bludgeons relativity to such boundless extents that by the end of it, the viewer is sure to have a sure shot idea of how politics in India works. Kudos to Selva Raghavan for creating a gangster film that saunters happily past the line designed for success and it is a film not to be deigned with.
Aishwarya's debut is not only emotional but it also manages to drive home the message she wants to convey with the velocity and ferocity required. The first half is full quiver as the eve of love and it successions are portrayed in a brilliant yet simplistic manner. Dhanush's subtle emotion paired with Shruti Hassan's angelic looks churn into a romantic piece that fissures itself in our hearts. The first half with it's humor and fresh screenplay arrows itself past expectations and penetrates deep to form expectation for a film that had so much hype. So far, so good, the second half doesn't take off with a vengeance, though a sense of intrigue creeps in, there is no development in that section instead the film takes a emotional route with thriller tinting it at every turn. The performances are brilliant, Dhanush is at his usual best with his expressions saying all. Shruti Hassan and the rest of the crew have given their best. Though the film doesn't pace up well, the emotional sequences emanate a sense of relativity that swirls and synchronizes with the story, Dhanush is a tribute to acting and he is the soul and flesh through which the blood of the story flows. Hats off to Aishwarya.
