Devastated by grief over her husband's (Russell Hornsby) death, a widow (Danielle Deadwyler) must protect her two children (Peyton Jackson, Estella Kahiha) from a spectral woman (Okwui Okpokwasili) dressed in black who appears in the front garden of the house. Don't Let Her In !.
This terrifying film contains chills , thrills, mystery and scary scenes. From start to final the frantic horror images and continuous tension unstopped . It's an acceptable horror story with colorful, dark cinemataography by Pawel Pogorzelski, eerie musical score by Lorne Balfe, some use of CGI for the FX fantastic scenes and special make-up. A terrifying thriller with tension, suspense, including blood, and grisly violence. Strong psychological horror thriller with an unsettling battle of wits between two protagonists, Danielle Deadwyler and Okwui Okpokwasili. Both of whom give awesome performances. So main starring Danielle Deadwyler is fine as a widow who is forced to face his fears and confront his troubled past while attempting to save her children. She must find a way to survive when the mysterious woman becomes herself a threat for her family and goes on an alleged killing spree.
This is an ordinary film within the Jason Blum factory, and therefore follows the coordinates of this modern production company: the rules for making a cheap movie include: 1) Limit the amount of speaking parts, because actors with lines get an additional fee; 2) Limit the amount of locations (preferably only one); 3) Pay actors the legally minimum, and offer them a percentage of perspective profits; 4) Never break the budget, don't ask for more money ("don't buy your way out of a problem, but solve it creatively").
This creepy flick was passably directed by Jaume Collet-Serra , but it doesn't have anything special that we haven't seen before. It was truly a disappointment, especially compared to other films directed by Collett which had a higher artistic level and were more appealing to a wider audience. Collet is an expert director and producer, creator of various blockbusters. He frequently works with Liam Neeson and Dwayne Johnson. Serra is specialist on terror movies as ¨Orphan¨, ¨House of wax¨ and for TV as ¨The river¨ , his greatest success was the action movie titled ¨Unknown¨ with Liam Neeson . And other hits, producing or directing films as ¨The commuter¨, ¨The Shallows¨, ¨Curve¨, ¨Extinction¨, ¨Run All Night¨, ¨Hooked Up¨, Eden¨, among others. ¨The woman in the yard¨ Rating: 5.5, acceptable and passable, well worth seeing . The picture will appeal to terror fans .

Two cop brothers (Paul Bettany, Stephen Graham), smothered by the shadow of their former police chief dad (Brian Cox), must investigate a crime they themselves have committed. Things go wrong when a cop eventually snaps whilst interrogating a suspect (Ben Crompton). During the course of the investigation takes place several surprises , twists and unexpected consequences. You can't bury the truth !.
Thriller charting the moral collapse of a police family including tense moments and high-lighted by top-notch interpretations. Interesting and grim picture with tight editing , magnificent acting , thrills , plot twists , emotion and intense drama. It was originally conceived as a tense as well as thrilling flick about a complex interrogatory. It results to be an adaptation based on the miniseries written by Bill Gallagher about a claustrophobic and strange duel between a suspicious killer and a police officer obsessively convinced of his guilt , both of whom find themselves subtly changing places. ¨Blood¨(2012) is a ripping and exciting picture about a cop who has to investigate a grisly killing with unexpected consequences, and it bears a remarkable resemblance to Sidney Lumet classic ¨The Offence¨(1972) starring Sean Connery.
Embedded in a realistic police procedure , thorny dialog and peculiar situations nowadays have a ring of arty melodrama ; nevertheless, riveting at times. Stands out Paul Bettany as a stressed cop and his brther Stephen Craham, giving terrific acting. Support cast is really good, such as: Mark Strong, Ben Crompton, Naomi Battrick, Zoë Tapper, Natasha Little and special mention for veteran Brian Cox as the father suffering Alzheimer.
It contains a colorful and dark cinematography by cameraman George Richmond. Shot on location in Hilbre Island, Wirral, West Kirby, North Park, Bootle, Seacombe,Eventim Olympia, Wirral, Merseyside, Liverpool, England, UK. As well as suspenseful and moving musical score by composer Daniel Pemberton. The motion picture was decently directed by Nick Murphy but failed at box-office. Nick Murphy is a BAFTA winning and Royal Television Society Award winning director and writer. A former editor of news and current affairs for the BBC, he began directing documentaries in 1996. A decade later he moved into writing and directing dramas, receiving multiple awards and nominations both at home and abroad. Nick Murphy is a good craftsman, he usually works for television and has made several episodes and series, such as : Christmas Tale , The Fog , Nightflyers , Rogue , Surviving Disaster ,The Secret , Prey , Primeval , Dracula , Occupation , Heroes and villians, among others . And occassionally for cinema he has only made two nice films : ¨The Awakening¨ and this ¨Blood¨ (2012). Rating : 6.5/10 . Better than average horror movie . The flick with appeal to British thriller fans .

A callous TV executive Frank (Bill Murray) staging ¨A Christmas Carol¨ is himself visited by the three ghosts: past, present and future, he then sees the light. Frank overworks his assistant Grace (Alfre Woodward), forcing her to constantly break plans with her family. After firing staff member Eliot Loudermilk (Bob Goldthwait) on Christmas Eve, selfish Frank is visited by a series of ghosts who give him a chance to re-evaluate his actions and right the wrongs of his past. Bill Murray is back among the ghosts., only this time, it's three against one !. The spirits will move you in odd and hysterical ways !.
A nice film dealing with the known story about an old bitter miser who makes excuses for his uncaring nature and learns real compassion when the ghosts visit him on Christmas Eve. Bill Murray's first star comedy in four years following Ghost Busters in an updating of 'A Christmas Caro'l with him cast in the Scrooge character as a totally venal TV chief whose taste lies well and really in the gutter. Although attacked in some quarters for his questionable humor, eventually the film works quite well mainly thanks to him. However, at times Bill Murray is too sardonic and cynic to be believable. It remains a top-drawer and big-budgeted production with sumptuous settings and lush costumes and some breathtaking special effects. There is a great support cast accompanying the illustrious Bill Murray, such as: John Forsythe, John Glover, Bobcat Goldthwait, Michael J. Pollard, Alfre Woodard , Brian Doyle Murray, David Johansen as Ghost of Christmas Past, Carol Kane as Ghost of Christmas Present and special appearances from John Houseman; Lee Majors and Robert Mitchum. The motion picture was decently directed by Richard Donner, though somewhat disjointed.
Other versions about this great story by Charles Dickens, courtesy of several mysterious Christmas apparitions are as follows : The rather obscure 1935 version with Sir Seymour Hicks ; adaptation released by MGM in 1938 with Reginald Owen , Gene Lockhart ; 1951 British production by Brian Desmond Hurst with Alastair Sim, Jack Warner and the 1970 musical, with Albert Finney , Frank Finlay . Under the title of 'A Christmas Carol' a cartoon rendition (1997) by Stan Phillips and voiced by Tim Curry and another (1991) by Jimmy T. Murakami with Simon Callow . The made-for-TV productions: 1999 with Patrick Stewart , Richard E. Grant , Saskia Reeves , Laura Fraser , Joel Grey and the 2004 musical , with Kelsey Grammer . Another musical with the classic muppets: ¨The Muppet Christmas Carol¨ (1992) stars : Kermit the Frog , Miss Piggy , The Great Gonzo , The Rat Rizzo , Fozzie Bear and Michael Caine directed by Brian Henson . After that , ¨Robert Zemeckis's Christmas Carol (2009)¨ in which Jim Carrey demonstrates once again his versatility on screen ; it is given the full ¨Motion Capture¨ deluxe treatment in a superior film directed by Robert Zemeckis with Jim Carrey , Robin Wright , Colin Firth , Dominic West . Finally , ¨A Christmas Carol series ¨(2019) in 3 episodes with Guy Pearce , Andy Serkis , Joe Alwyn , Stephen Graham.
