I'm generally a fan of Adam Sandler films. I've enjoyed many of his films. Okay, they're "big concepts", they're predictable, but there's adam sandler and I love him. I missed a few of his films and this was one of them. Hey, they're usually just silly fluff, but I enjoy them. And when it comes to silly fluff this film is no exception. And, as I expected it was the usual silly fluff from Sandler and company. But in an Adam Sandler film, it's a simple question. Did you laugh? And the answer here is yes. Yes. But not enough. It's hit and miss. And the misses win. It pleads for more. Rent this if like me you're a Sandler fan and have missed this one. Or if you've run out of other comedy choices. Otherwise, it's totally forgettable.
It was very well done, all around. Keaton gives a stirring performance. And yes, a risky performance that ultimately pays off. It was very well directed. I would highly recommend this film to anyone interested in the serious subject of drug addiction. There's alot of lessons here to be had. As well as a lot of truth.
What can I say? Keaton, Nicholson, Nancy Meyers. You knew it was gonna be fun and it was. Does Keaton deserve an oscar? It's a little light and fluffy... I'm not sure. But great is great and she was. Nicholson, too, was, well... Perfectly Nicholson. I must say, I laughed until the cows came home.
