The main problem with this film is that it is badly acted. I'm not sure the actors are 100% to blame for this, but delivery is wooden and sounds as if it was recorded in a cupboard.
It's poorly directed; long slow meandering shots that do not add to the feeling, sudden brief action (poorly delivered), no sense of tension, and hanging on actors' faces waiting for them to speak.
Whilst a loop story can be an effective plot, you can't care about anybody or anything in the movie as nothing flows and the characters are cutouts.
Was there an editor? Or did the writer director just put it together as he went along?
Sisse Marie is about the best thing in this movie.

Many reviews of this film on IMDB are fake; same date, only one review from the author. This is for both the good and bad reviews.
What starts off as a Hallmark-esque sunny romp, slowly but surely leads to darker waters. And the end is quite unexpected and a bit disturbing.
Well acted, well filmed, despite the obvious budget restrictions, and competently delivered. There are a few weak performances, but they do not detract from the overall experience.
While it's no masterpiece, it does what it does well, and does not pretend to be anything other than a comedic murder mystery.

When I saw that Jude Law was in the role of an 80's FBI agent, based on a true story, I wondered "Who cast him?" as there are dozens of other actors who more readily come to mind as being suitable for the role.
Then I found out that the property is owned by his production company, and that he wanted to take the role to explore more as an actor (I don't know what this means).
So, if you are a fan of Jude Law you will like the film. But otherwise, it doesn't offer much. It's competent, Law is a very good actor and he does the role well, it's well shot, well-written, and well-directed. But there's no zap, pzazz. It's a bit flat and bit 'so-what'.
The characters are somewhat one-dimensional and it's hard to care about good guys, or bad guys for that matter.
There is more interesting fare out there, so one for fans only (and I hope Jude Law found what he was looking for).
