Go figure, I first saw this movie on 9 / 11 ... what an omen ! Anyway, onto the movie. Here is what I liked about this movie. There are some elements to the game that they put into the movie, such as the shootout during the outbreak between the Raccoon City Police Department and the U.B.C.S. vs the Zombies. It was a great action sequence. The scares were pretty good. Mike Epps made the movie more fun for me ! My favorite line "Shoulda told' me you got bit, mother f***er. I'm all hanging with you and s**t !" Here's what I didn't like about the movie. When it comes to characters, the movie really didn't follow the game much. For instance, (now I am not being a sexist) Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory) isn't supposed to be all that tough, Carlos Oliviera (Oded Fehr) is supposed to be a cocky "ladies' man," Nicholai (Zack Ward) is supposed to be a bad guy, and Nemesis (coulda been bigger) was specifically created to destroy only S.T.A.R.S. members. And speaking of S.T.A.R.S., there aren't supposed to be THAT many S.T.A.R.S. members.
Overall, this was a really great film (can't wait for Part 3), though it would've been better if they followed the game a little more.

Okay, first of all, notice how all of the other reviewers who gave this movie a good rating are either: A) From Canada (where the movie was made) or B) Helped work on this movie or the second one ? Seriously, this movie was God-Awful Beyond Belief. Makes House of the Dead look like the greatest movie ever made !!! It is just the worst ! The acting: terrible. The editing: worst !! And here's what's also stupid. Zombie victims just give up so damn easily. If they get touched by a zombie, they just simply fall down and let them take them !! And let me talk about the boobs.
Now don't get me wrong, I'm a man, so I like seeing boobs. But when it comes to bad horror movies, it is nothing more than a poor attempt at getting guys to pick this crap off the shelves and say "Hey dude, let's get this one! Looks like it's gonna suck, but there is nudity !!" My God !!
DO NOT RENT THIS MOVIE !!! YOU WILL BECOME TWITCHY, EMOTIONALLY SCARRED, AND TEMPORARILY RETARDED !!

Went to see Land of the Dead with my buddy, Bobby, when it first came out. Now I am a big fan of the Romero zombie films; hell, a big fan of zombies period ! Land of the Dead had a pretty good plot when it came to how it was compared to what's actually happening in the world we live in today. John Leguizamo played a great part of Cholo, and I kinda felt for him.
But here are the bad points of this movie: The blood effects look to animated and the hero of the movie, Riley (played by Simon Baker), was just too boring.
Other than those two problems, this was a pretty good movie ! 7 / 10 ... hope his next film, Diary of the Dead, turns out better than this one did.
