Time changes everything but this film shows how wonderful and beautiful Berlin was in the late twenties. From Whimsical Store Displays to Kids going to school the city had a pulse that was magical. I enjoyed seeing Kitty cats on the street as well as the many people and movements that made this a great city. The vibrant Jewish Presence in the city at that time was sadly not to be later on before and after the war. The Theatre and bar scene was electric at that time, just wish they could have shown the fabled gay scene at that time. The editing and filming techniques were very well crafted and certainly make a statement. In all very well done.
Great Time Capsule from the late 40s of California Teen Life in glorious Colour. I really enjoyed seeing Stars like Jane Powell,Elizabeth Taylor at their most beautiful, plus a young handsome Robert Stack. I Loved seeing Wallace Beery as the father and Carmen Miranda was a 40s stable and always fun. The Story is a lighthearted look at dating and relationships back in the day. I particularly enjoyed the Musical numbers in the School Auditorium with Jane singing "It's a Most Unusual Day"..I was saddened and suprised to hear about Oogie's (Scotty Beckett}Tragic life and his death at only 38 ,he was such an likable actor and talent.
I really didn't enjoy this movie and only stuck through it to see why everyone else seems to like it. I'm from Vancouver, so to see parts of the city were interesting to me. On the other hand the excessive brutal violence and smutty dialogue weren't my cup of tea. Many of the jokes flew over my head, but a few were funny. The fight scenes were way over the top and seeing the torture that Wade went through with the despicable Weasel was a stomach turner. I didn't connect with any of the characters and they surely were a work of fiction. I did see Deadpool 2 and I liked that movie more than this one.
