When I was about 80 minutes in I gave up, couldn't stand it. Slow, boring, tedious, uninteresting, a total humdrum. I am passionate about quantum physics, this movie succeeded in making even that boring. The music is too loud, the actors don't speak, they whisper, mutter, mumble, speak under their breath, a trend that has long been way too frequent in Hollywood.

I wasn't even able to keep watching until the explosion scene, I was being too painfully bored. I can't understand how this has won an Oscar (or even more than one?).

I need to write a few more characters so submit the review, so: boring, boring, boring, boooooooooring!!!

I had so high hopes for this film, but it was a total letdown. I enjoyed many times norwegian cinema, but I'm sorry to say this is not one of those. This film is too uneventful, the various scenes are carried on for too long with too little dialogue and too many silent pauses.

The characters are unlikable because they're supposed to be, this is not the problem, nor is it the animal cruelty which seems to have raised so much hysteria amomg reviewers (guys, get a grip, it's a goddamn film, it's all make believe!), probably the same ones who don't seem to care when the same cruelty is exerted onto a human, as it does happen here. Hypocritical to say the least.

The problem is that this film is just boring, and that's all there is. I did not feel scared, I did not feel outraged, I did not feel offended, scarred or touched in any way. I was just half-laying on my couch waiting for it to end. Nothing else.

And I have watched literally thousands, especially thriller/horror. But none ever got to my guts as this one did. I actually suffer from a mild acrophobia. Mild in the sense that I can lean from my window on the 4th floor without any particular annoyance (it starts to get worse at the 6th floor of my mother's house), but if I were to stand on the ledge of an abyss I would probably be paralized by the sheer panic. It's actually a recurring nightmare I've been having all my life. Well, this film gave me the same sensations that I get from my nightmares. That's how straight and realistic the cinematography is.

I don't care much about the realism of the technical climbing part, as I read in several reviews, that has nothing to do with the entertainment purpose of the movie. Entertain, it does. Point met.
