Hoo-Aah.... Ask me whether this is the best Bollywood movie ever. Hell Yeah!!! Take a bow, Vifhal Bhardwaj, Fhahid Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Gulfar and everyone else involved. After seeing Vifhal's masterpiece 'Omkara', i had EXTREMELY HIGH expectations for Kaminey. And it exceeded every one of them. It has songs, comedy, crackling dialogs... stuff that you'd associate with your regular masala potboilers. But Kaminey shows a whole new unchartered territory of implementing them. The jokes come from here, there, everywhere. This is one of the very very very few movies that have got both critical acclaim and commercial success. If the avg critic's rating is between 4-4.5 out of 5, then it's termed GREAT. Well, Kaminey is GREAT!!! Vishal Bhardwaj's Kaminey is to Bollywood what Quentin Tarantino's Pulp Fiction is to Hollywood. That's the most lavish praise that i can offer to this classic for the ages. Directors like Vishal Bhardwaj, Anurag Kashyap(Hindi) and Renjith, Amal Neerad, Lijo J.P(Malayalam) are the best things to happen to this country. Indians, who crib that India doesn't produce gr8 movies, Shut Up. You have no voice here if you cannot accept gems like Kaminey, Dev D(Hindi) and Paleri Manikyam, Big B, Thirakatha(Malayalam).

The 1st Adoor Gopalakrishnan film tat I saw was this. Reading about his directorial prowess, I had to see at least 1 film of his. I was impressed and how. Mammootty is plainly put, outstanding. His 2nd National Award for Best Actor was jointly for Vidheyan and Ponthan Mada. After seeing Mammootty act, or rather live, the role for around 10 minutes, you'll understand why he got the award. The film is about a master-servant relationship. It's a beautiful film in all aspects. Kudos to Adoor for making this film. Be warned Mohanlal fans, watching Vidheyan may just force you the turn the tables! Mammootty is arguably the best actor who showcases anger. His look is stunning. His accent is spot-on. His facial and eye expressions are perfect. This film is right up there among the greatest films and more so, among the greatest performances by an actor.
