Whoever came up with this concept is utterly devoid of logic, and the final product reflects my sentiment. Did someone think a shark attack is not enough, now it must carry a virus as well?

If you do hate yourself so much to try to sit through this whole movie, you will be shaking your head and cutting your wrists at the abominable concept, horrid writing and acting, etc.

Painful, plain and simple. Then again, it might cure cancer.

...it just went downhill. I watch shows and movies of all genres, and one of the requirements that varies from genre to genre is plausibility. More serious genre like drama needs to be more believable than, for instance, a sci fi or comedy. If you can't believe that what is happening on screen could happen in real life or in some parallel reality, you will call it BS and move on to another form of entertainment. First episode was quirky but still (sort of) funny, most characters are believable, but there were some annoying exceptions that wonder out of the realm of believable- the annoying and pretentious Pootie Shoe, human resources lady throwing a tantrum about having to help people (I take personal offence being a psychologist myself), but most of all- the new assistant that exhibits some of the most blatant antisocial (not asocial!) behaviors that would raise red flags to even the least perceptive of viewers. The main plot line of the episode was decent enough, and side characters like the tester girls really seem like they could develop into great side story/plot.

Unfortunately, this show takes a quick nose dive, right from the start of second episode. They are building a dynamic that doesn't exist in a real game developing company- making it seem like certain characters, like Abed, I mean Brad the "lead of monetization department", are irreplaceable and could single-handedly modify the ingame micro-transaction system without anyone being able to stop them or reverse the changes. The antisocial assistant character is further being built up as a completely deranged psychopath that basically causes public relation disaster that would cost the company billions in future revenue not to mention legal fees of a lawsuit (probably even criminal charges), but her boss is just like "just try to fix it, ok, sweety?". I mean, are you serious? This kind of person would never get a job like this, but even if she did, she would be fired on the spot and perhaps even sued in real life by both Pootie Shoe and her former company, which would do everything to distance themselves from the PR nightmare and the one who caused it. I'm assuming they were going for an absurd comical character, but the delivery makes all of the scenes she is in creepy and just plain unbelievable. The fact that the main plot of the 2nd episode is dealing with a completely preposterous event (Brad's tantrum) in a billion dollar company doesn't help either.

I really wanted to like this show, but there are just so many aspects that are absolute absurdity, but in a completely unfunny way.

Someone called this "a comedy show for gamers". Reality check- this show has very little to do with gaming or videogames except for some clips of For Honor and the day-night cycle (used as scene transition, lol) of what seems to be Kingdom Come: Deliverance (I could be wrong about that one). But most importantly, people that play videogames have statistically higher than average IQ (google it)- and this show only works if you turn off your brain, forget about any sense of logic, lose your sense of humour, and believe in Santa Clause and the Spaghetti Monster.

But hey, that's just my opinion.

I was reading all these negative reviews before watching, so I went into it with low expectations. About my Disney remake experience so far: watched original Aladdin as a kid, and I still find it incredible, with great script and amazing soundtrack; on the other hand I couldn't watch more than 30 minutes of the remake which was unimaginative, complete cringe, garbage renditions of the original songs, Smith's genie was a sort of a ghetto joke,.. To say the least, I found it to be the most cringe thing I've seen in a while. When I saw they were remaking Mulan, I expected another uninspired money-grabbing cringefest from Disney, but instead we got teen oriented kungfu flick that stands far enough from the original not to feel uninspired but fresh, there were no musical scenes that are such a great part of Disney animations but turn cringe when done in live action movies (case in point- Aladdin 2019) and I commend the director for avoiding it. There is some renditioned soundtrack from the original Mulan in this movie, just a taste of it, that gives that sense of nostalgia to anyone that watched animation as a kid; I would have preferred more of the original soundtrack, I was especially interested to hear rendition of the song I'll make a man out of you, but I guess we're gonna have to wait for that until the next remake, which should be coming in next 10-15 years (because Disney, ofc). There are a lot of things wrong with this movie if you care to look for it: plotholes, plot armor, some cringe moments, some problems with script dialogue at points and editing blunders, some cliche moments etc. that is if you look for it.

But...if you're watching this for entertainment value, I think it's definitely the best Disney live-action remake so far, and great action and message far outweighs the cringe, which is something I thought I could never again say about a product of Disney.

Definitely recommended.
