Opinion, Baahubali: The Beginning.
Hype, excitement, "brace yourselves", we've had it all. Phrases iterated time and again, South Indian Cinema, rather a great deal of it has always resided in the disappointing side of the curve. That particular curve, over time, has become so steep that a good telugu movie was referred to with a superficial conjecture. Baahubali stands out to make a new graph, the only difference being it does not stay true to its ancestry.
Beginning of the movie, as I sat in the overpriced INOX seats with some overpriced Nachos and Coffee, I expected the hype to fail and some cheesefest for display so I can go home and whine about how much of torment I have been through. But what I rather caught the eye of, was absolutely fantastic. As I sat myself through with keen eyes, there was some brilliant music playing in the background sending a shiver through my nerves at every engaging moment. Every character who came to display brought more immersion with him than the prior. My favourite of them all has been, Kattappa, Kattappa was outstanding. And the visuals (insert puking rainbows meme here) were stunning.
Now, now, the movie isn't all sunshine and rainbows. There are some unnecessary scenes as well, What I didn't like about Baahubali is that it still holds some of the telugu cinema clichés, the unnecessary dance songs, the romance arc. But wait, that's about it. That is what i had to complain about.
As the interval set a grand stage for the second half, I was still getting over the marvelous pre interval scene. And what followed the interval -the warfare, the story, the powerful screenplay, the effort put into visuals, the grand stage, performance by the cast, was pure cinematic excellence. And when the movie ended, I could not argue but rule out that Baahubali is amazing. Making a movie like Baahubali requires a great deal of effort and S S Rajamouli has put every bit into it. If not for the stifling unnecessary scenes, Baahubali is fantastic and one amongst the best Telugu movies.
Highly Recommended. Make an effort to watch it on the big screen.

Review, Avengers: Age of Ultron.
The right lines at the right moment, the right action, the right VFX. Marvel does it time and again, the envelope of striking humour surrounding the plot though excessively at times but never ineffective.
Avengers isn't your average Marvel movie which you anticipate to be funny, light and entertaining. Yes, it didn't lose the humour, yes, Tony is still the guy. No doubt it's very true to the form but what makes this a remarkably different addition to the series is... well it's deep. It is highly character driven. A go through into each of the characters' lives, their complexities, their fears, sadness, each of which continually adds to your awe.
The common cast surely do a good job at doing what they do but there will be some character where most of your curiosity will deviate to and that's, you'll love to discover, is James Spades. Right from his dialogues to their deliverance, he shines excellently as the antagonist.
Moments exist where dialogues so good will charm your soul, moments exist where the action is so satisfying that you are shouting, applauding and probably craving for more of the like but at the same time there are moments which render you a underwhelming feel, moments which have no proper argument or explanation backing them up. Avengers Age of Ultron is not a flawless movie.
While being formulaic and having its fair share of flaws, its over the top action, the chemistry between the characters, the phenomenal screenplay and the skillfully employed and brilliantly voiced Ultron prove that Age of Ultron is a fantastic sequel. Its number of pluses outnumbering its flaws by large, Marvel takes a big step forward.
8.5/10. Amazing.

Struggling to solve the case, breaking down each clue into a significant detail, in a world ravaged by the British dominion and equally endangered by war, the 1940s, there lives a detective Byomkesh Bakshy typically stylized as Bakshy Babu. Sublime his way with words, sharp his mind and snazzy his attire, Sushant Singh Rajput dazzles as the Indian counterpart of the well known mastermind.
Revitalizing the ingenuously crafted characters of Bandopadhyay, laughs gelled up here and there, Dibakar Bannerjee creates a thriller turning out in no more than 15 to 20 minutes to be a very intriguing flick as Bakshy Babu untangles the mystery by joining the pieces from the fragments of hints scattered across the locale.
What's so different about the movie is that it takes the road less traveled by. It portrays a beautifully archaic Calcutta with vintage cars and trams, and a story paced with an excellent flow. With a strong grip on your curiosity and attention, it shines as the product of masterful thinking timed by fluid execution. From the creation of an eerie environment to the brilliant juicing up of characters, Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is a cinematic delight.
