Having been raised in the Salvation Army, I have always known the story of the great Jesus Christ, from immaculate birth to tragic yet inspirational death & RESURRECTION! Now, I hold Mel Gibson high & thank him for the superbness of the Passion. I admit I was ready to watch this but to actually SEE what happened, in full gruesome detail, of what happened to Christ, as if I was actually THERE in His time, was almost too much! I can't remember how many times I bursted into tears watching the Son of God be tortured, scourged, scourned, beaten to a bloody mess, and whipped countless times while He was carrying the cross to the hill. . . . . . .I have turned my life back around and praise Him for what He did! Leaving the theater in tears, myself, I was not surprised at how many were also crying! What did surprise me were the ones that weren't & acting like it was just another movie. I have my own opinions & will not express on that other than this movie. YES we didn't know Him personally back then, but you still can't help but think.. . ."HE did that for ME?" My other friend and devout Christian believer put his arm around me & we had serious prayer after that, by his car. Now, you can't say if Jesus was Democrat, Republican, or whatever in those man-made ranks. . . .this was, is, and always will be Jesus Christ, the true-born Son of God & mankinds' true saviour! SPLENDID JOB MEL!
I bought the DVD off the sales rack at Wal-Mart, thinking I could pawn it off after once viewing it. . . .not expecting much of it, even though I am a fan of Van Damme. BUT, it surprised me as Van Damme expresses his DRAMATIC skills! Not his usuall puncher-kicker film, he tells the story of how it is for a legionnaire watching people he knows being picked off one-by-one in the heated Hell of war! Although it's not a true story, it IS, however, true to the way it is with any heartfull man who joins the Foreign Legion and gets caught up in such Hellish realities of hatred in combat. Leaving behind all he's ever known & felt comfortable with and fighting for a whole different cause, and finding out later the trespasses that happen which can result in hatred. You can feel the loneliness he felt as the Arabs ride away & he's the only one left standing there in the death, rubble, and smoke of what was his fort in Northern Africa. Certainly a welcomed change from Van Damme's usuall martial arts mayhem. It's a keeper!
I am not too easily creeped out but there are times where I would like to be shocked. I played the 1st one on the PS, and rented the other two when I got a PS2. SH3 is certainly different from the 1st two games, but it still delivers when I want to feel the creepiness around me! The graphics are very good & sure makes for a realistic feel. Included with the game was the original CD music soundtrack and it makes your mind wander when you listen to it! The bizarre enemy characters, though not as creepy as the ones from parts 1 & 2 still provide a thought provoking "Where the **** did they come from?!" If a movie's made about Silent Hill, it'd better be something more than Resident Evil was. Good movie, but the characters should've remained as in the games. Stay true & all will be fine.
