I feel the need to say already from the beginning, that when you watch a movie like this one, it's no use to say how good was the photography or the general quality of the movie. It is supposed to be a silly and funny movie and that's all. Don't expect more. The main idea, is that Sotiris Moustakas is a detective and has solved almost all cases that the police was trying to solve. But he has a good heart and gives many times the credit to the police commissioner. Then, a mafia guy (a Godfather) decides to hire him, in order to find "Nona" (The Godmother) of the crime world. The Godfather knows that she uses a special technique to win in the casinos and gives this information to Sotiri Moustaka. He then starts the investigation with his "slow" in the mind but very funny helper, Papadopoulo. The movie is very funny and sometimes hilarious. Sotiris Moustakas is good and all the actors work well together in this movie. It is obvious that it was shot fast (within a couple of weeks?) and the editing of the movie was done fast as if they had to make and release it within a month. The music is typical of that era and brings nostalgia. My advice would be to watch this movie without any expectations and it will deliver all that it promises. Laughter and entertainment.
I was on holidays in Italy that year when I watched the advert in TV. Roberto Benigni was walking with his funny way (that uses in the movie to avoid the house owner) to the nearest kiosk and stealing the video cassette of his own movie....il Mostro. After that, I had to watch the movie and I have to admit that it's great! He is one of the few actors that he doesn't make himself look ridiculous in order to make you laugh. He doesn't have that stupid kind of parody-american style. He has a great sense of humor and you can't take away the smile off your face after the movie has finished. He has that nice warm Italian tamperamento and that's why maybe I like him and his movies so much. He is an artist! Enjoy the movie!
