Annie's Coming Out based on a book by Rosemary Crossley and Anne McDonald, is about Miss Crossley's experience at an Australian institution for disabled children, the institution in which she encountered Miss McDonald. Crippled by cerebral palsy and confined in the institution from the age of 3, Miss McDonald was entirely unable to communicate when Miss Crossley first met her. She was thought to be badly retarded and, in keeping with the harsh customs of the institution in which she was confined, was treated accordingly But Miss Crossley somehow sensed the child's intelligence. And she eventually taught her to communicate by means of a letter board and with the motion of her tongue. Over the years, she and Miss McDonald developed a familial bond, and a great deal of love and loyalty. In 1979, when Annie was 18, Miss Crossley launched a fight against the skeptics and bureaucrats who doubted Annie's abilities and wanted to preserve the institution's reputation, a fight to win Annie's freedom.

I challenge anyone with a hard done by complex to see this movie can safely say they won't. have one anymore I can really identify with Annie because I suffer with a different degree. Of the same disability I have speech difficulties some people treat me a little the same way. anyway excellent acting by all 5 out of 10
