20's guy in 90's NYC. Really weird movie, espically when everyone else around him is acting like normal and he's acting all chipper and using 30's film dialog (movies had no dialog in the 20's!) Did people really talk and act like this in the 20's and 30's? I think not! They had similar situations back then, gangsters, alcohol, flappers, whores, etc. life wasn't rosy back then! In all a weird, funny and interesting film to watch, if you have nothing to do.
Two Stars out of 4 I like the Friday the 13th movies, with their bad acting, hokey special effects and ridiculous plots, for sentimental reasons. I was just a kid when they first came out and I can remember them being a big deal and everything. I liked to watch them back then as I do now. The Friday the 13th movies are alot of fun if you don't take them too seriously. They were never meant to be masterpieces of cinema...but movies to see with your friends and laugh and scream at. This movie is no exception. It's actually not that bad...the girls are hot, the killing scenes are grisly (the most nasty one involves Jason stabbing a girl with a piece of a broken mirror ouch!), and the film has it's own share of humorous one liners like most Friday the 13th films have. Since it was made in 1989, it has that retro 80's look. Once the 80's were over, it was the end of an era and the Friday the 13th movies were part of that. So basically, it's an average Friday the 13th film. It's an okay film, but one thing is for sure, this movie is a hell of alot better than Jason X.
I loved this anime! It's so hilarous and dead on in its presentation of anime fans and nerds in general. The anime is basically about this tennis jock who gives up his beautiful girlfriend and jock's life to be an anime nerd. The presentation of the "Otaku" in the film was very eeriely similar to how nerds behave here. I laughed hysterically...
