Some people don´t like sad film but I like them a lot when they are well done. This film is a very good movie but probably you will left the cinema with tears in your eyes. Like most of films this one describes a love story, but a love story between poor and young people. "Bailame el agua" mix drugs, prostitution, alcohol and music in good measures creating a fascinating world of the suburbs. The acting is superb especially Unax Ugalde and Pilar López de Ayala. Both give to the characters a special feelling plenty of humanity. The film never falls in thopics. You must see it. It´s a punch straight to your heart.

It´s really wonderfull the sensation that you have when you are out of the cinema after seeing "El hijo de la novia". I´m from spain and my english level isn´t probably as good as it should be so excuse me, but I have to talk about this movie. The script is so real that you can identify yourself with every character in the movie. The acting is superb (Ricardo Darin, Hector Alterio...) All of them give us the sensation of a story narrated by humans, no by stereotypes. The films makes you cry but also makes you laugh. It´s a hopefull film full of good intentions and good emotions. A jewel 10/10

It´s incredible to see how Alejandro Amenábar grows in each films he do. "Thesis" and "Open your eyes" are very good movies, but this one is probably the best film of the year. The script (Alejandro wrote it 3 years before "the sixth sense")it´s a very intelligent mixture of drama and horror. The anguish is in every part of the film and that happens for three things: 1) Nicole Kidman has done her best work on this film. We don´t know if love or hate this "Grace" because of her human character. She has to win the oscar because is (at least in this film) the best actress of the moment. 2)The director of photography, Javier Aguirresarobe has made a pice of art: the darkness, the fog, the forest... It´s really superb. 3) Alejandro Amenábar: a genius. The music, the script and the direction, and in those three categories has done a very good job.
