  • It's worth watching and worth your time

The story is in itself a GREAT story. The true story which is based on is just as deranged as the series are, so if you've done your research on the case, it really does a lot when you're watching each episode. It's a deranged story with so many subjects that are being touched, and ai have to give credit to the one who wrote the script. It's interesting, it's dark, it's sad, every once in a while you laugh and sometimes you find yourself thinking that things makes sense - before you snaps back to it and remember that it is a true story.

First, some bad review: Annaleigh Ashford (as Melissa Reed) puts on quite a poor performance. Even though she might be trying to portray an accurate depiction of Melissa Reed, her performance comes off as that of a soap opera. If it wasn't for her physical resemblance to her character, I'd say her role is well below average. It's really only the physical accuracy she brings that makes you "okay" with her being in the cast.

That being said, let's move on to the praise!: I have to give great credit to Dennis Quaide and his performance as Keith Jesperson. He takes on a truly difficult role portraying a very complex man. However he does so in a way that really makes you in some ways like him, but also fear him and be creeped out by him, all at the same time.

The other cast member I want to give credit to is the young actress Khiyla Aynne who plays the grand daughter Hazel. She shifts so well between how a teen is among their parents; defiant, childish, naive. But she also does a great job at putting on the role of how a teenager is when their parents aren't around - when they're trying to be grownups, the way they make their own decisions yet being to young to understand the real implications of their actions. It really is one of the better depictions of a teenager in- and outside of the home, among and without their parents.

    It's worth watching, absolutely.

  • Naomi Scott is terrific

I have to say that I was actually surprised by this. The first movie was shitty as hell but I had nothing to watch tonight so I put on Smile 2, and even though the smile-thing is a bit cheesy and pretty much a teenflix Naomi Scott's performance is WELL BEYOND expectation. The plot and all aside, she is an amazing actress and I didn't even really know anything about her, but her acting truly is amazing. The movie would be a 3 but the extra 4 that has me give it a 7 is 100% because of what a great actress she is. I look forward to seeing her in more productions in the future, hopefully better true horror movies because this girl can play the part, i'll tell you that. If anything, the movie is worth watching just because of her acting.

  • Reality for so many

As every single one of Dooley's documentaries, this is a well made and highly important subject.

Dooley has spent time with four women and followed them during their journey through the justice system and trial. This documentary isn't just a snapshot, it is stretched over several years and exposes the harsh reality for those who fight to bring their abuser to stand trial. The women we meet are so incredibly strong, and outcomes are heartbreaking but it's SO important. I, as a woman, feel that their fight is so important. It is the stories of so many. I strongly feel that if I would be a victim, I would thanks to these women try and stand up, and I am so impressed by them. No matter the outcome, watching women stand up for themselves will give other women the courage to come forward, and I hope that the women in this documentary know that their fight is not for nothing. It WILL encourage others. I want to thank these women for speaking up and contributing to taking the stigma away and putting the blame on the abusers. Sadly, we live in a society where the system still put lots of blame on the victims, but stories like this are steps forward towards seeing the reality; that the abused is NOT to blame. They did nothing wrong, they did everything right. We can only go forward if more people come forward.

    Thank you all, truly.
