Set in the Pacific NW it is a story of bad cops gone bad. A father and son team are the town's police force. They run the isolated town as they see fit, giving in to their basest desires along the way.
Two hapless medical students go in to the wrong bar at the wrong time and become the target of the bad cop's full wrath of violence and deciept.
Through in sexual tension, brutal rage and escape and evasion in the deep woods of the Pacific NW and you have a surprisingly good film.

This really is a great little golf movie. Based on a novel by Tom Coyne Gentleman's Game picks up where Caddy Shack leaves off and doesn't go near Tin Cup or Baggar Vance for being pretentious.
The story revolves around Mason Gamble who plays Timmy Price, a young gifted golfer who is the focus of everyone's attention. Timmy's father, played by Kevin Thomas, will do everything in his power to get Timmy the right breaks.
From joining an exclusive country club, to pushing son Timmy to caddy at the elite Fox Chase Country Club to seeking the reclusive Foster Pierce, played by Gary Sinise, to groom young Timmy for the upcoming tournament it's all about the game.
Along the way Timmy and we discover the splendor of young love, the love of a father for a son and how a young man's search for excellence helps bring the withdrawn Foster Pierce back to the reality and self respect that he has run from.
Throw in Brian Doyle Murray's character, Tomato Face, that runs the caddy shack, a dark secret that the country club elite try to hide and a surprise confrontation between a black club pro and the elder patriarch of Fox Chase and you have a great story.
I don't golf but enjoyed this movie thoroughly and would recommend it to anyone who has a love of the game or a love of life.

It still is hard to believe that PM Entertainment/Sunland Studios exited the video market after producing such great movies as this. Maybe they won't win any Academy awards but for the blue collar video fan their films were hard to beat. I liked Avalanche aka Escape From Alaska for a number of reasons. It was a believable movie given the pending oil exploration in Alsaka in real life. Ever since Seige of Firebase Gloria and Full Metal Jacket I've been a big fan of R. Lee Ermey. C. Thomas Howell is a bankable actor with a devoted video following and does a good job in this film. The character of Dr. Lia Freeman, the crusading enviornmentalist, is given real character with the personal problems exhibited by actress Caroleen Feeney. So maybe the special effects where done on a budget and people in the "biz" can pick at them but to my eye they look great. I think a lot of people will enjoy this movie for what it is, a nice action adventure film with recognizable names that draws its inspiration from today's headlines.
