This movie is purely for entertainment, not education. It's not biblically based, and it's clear no real effort was made to research the Bible (or the book of Revelation/Apocalypse).
If anyone thinks God would do what's depicted in this film, they're mistaken. Anyone believing it's Bible-based should take the time to read-or reread-the Bible for better understanding and reflection.
That said, I do see the message that being spiritual doesn't necessarily mean being saved.
As a movie, it's entertaining. The actors did a decent job, but stronger backstories would have made their characters more believable. While I wouldn't recommend it for teaching biblical principles, the technical aspects of the filmmaking are solid.

This movie is supposed to take place in Miami, but as someone who lives here, nothing about it feels authentic-nothing looks like Miami. Plus, Florida is so close to the islands that a 6-hour trip makes no sense. The writing feels awkward and forced, and for a group of "wild" 21-year-old girls, they all look older and worn out. Thirty minutes in, and I'm already rooting for the monster to end it so the movie is over.
Why do these films always rely on the same clichés: sex and monsters? It seems like writers and directors aren't interested in originality anymore. Similar movies from the '80s had more creativity. This one is just boring. Sex doesn't sell if there's no substance.

First, there's no action. It's all talk. And it's all "scientific" blah blah blah that bores you.
Then, you have what could be considered a confidential and impactful conversation in front of all crew members.
The special effects are so bad and every frame feels that they are in a set or stage. It's just awful.
Even at the most "action" moments, there's so much talk. OMG.
I wonder if the actors make these films because they need money or if they are doing someone a favor because I'd be embarrassed to be in a film like this one.
Save yourself time and don't watch this movie. It is honestly not worth watching.
