The only reason I didn't give this a 10 is that the ending felt a little rushed and undeveloped. Actually, if I could, I would have given it a 9.9!
I liked this much more than "Brokeback Mountain" in no small part because I found it much more believable. "Authentic" is often used to describe it and I agree completely. The farm scenes are so graphic and the actors/characters are doing it themselves; riding around some sheep seems much less real. Plus, I am from Wyoming and it really bugged me that they kept saying the movie was in Wyoming; it wasn't -- it was filmed in Montana. I kept getting dragged out of the story by the environment. None of it felt correct to me. Why didn't they just change the story to Montana? Buy that's my thing; we Wyoming natives are a very small group. "God's Own Country" was much more satisfying emotionally, spiritually, acting-wise (Ian Hart was phenomenal as was Gemma Craven) not to mention Josh and Alex. An extraordinary movie.

I had watched "Something about Mario" remembering "Mine Vaganti" so I rewatched it I find it absolutely delightful. It's a little messy perhaps, but the performances feel true. There is much to chuckle about in this. Certainly I saw much more than I did when it saw it years ago, but I think I will want to watch it again . . . Sometime, perhaps soon.
