The acting was subpar, the cinematography was lackluster, and the best parts of the book weren't included. The whole thing just felt rushed. The characters and their relationships didn't have time to develop. The dialogue was choppy and awkward. We lost out on a lot of the feelings and thoughts Kya had in the book. Overall, it stuck pretty close to the book in terms of plot, but I honestly which the director would have taken more creative liberty to do it better. There were moments that were ALMOST moving but they were cut short. Just meh.
To all the people rating this show 1/10 stars, WHAT do you think you're watching? It's reality TV, for Lord's sake! Not every show needs to be a thought-provoking drama! I love Love Island for what it is. Comparing it to other reality TV dating shows, this is by FAR one of the best. As a former fan of the Bachelor franchise, this show is MUCH better. It's so much less predictable and there is less catty drama. You can see how the cast genuinely make romantic and platonic connections. The format of the show keeps things interesting in ways that other reality TV shows do not. This is a perfect show to watch after a long day of surviving modern life. It's lighthearted and fun and good for what it is - reality TV.
Perfect show for murderinos who don't want to feel too crusty or bogged down by a heavy murder plot. This show has some genuinely very funny moments to offset the heavy subject matter. Great acting by Christina and Linda, they have great onscreen chemistry.
